I made a lil' video thing about a steam train! Yesterday, the gorgeous LNER B1 61306 Mayflower visited Kent on the Golden Arrow circular railtour. So I figured it'd be rude not to say hi! Features some serious chuffage. 🚂 youtube.com/shorts/30cjK...

Recently I saw a film trailer played before a YouTube video. Given the vibes & the A24 label, I assumed it was a high concept psychological horror/thriller. Imagine my shock when I found out it's actually a documentary, & that this is, in fact, a real person. Not an actor doing a bit. ...what.

Tea, blankie and a good book. Just what I need on a low spoons Saturday. Have a lovely weekend pals :)

Resting on the coffee table is a cup of tea in my KitKat mug, and the book 'Scotland's Railways in the 1980s & 1990s' by Peter J. Green. In the background is my Xbox360 and shelves of retro videogames.

So in typical fashion, I've only just heard about the new Hot Wheels: Infinite Rush game. FYI, I LOVED Hot Wheels Unleashed. & I really enjoy Forza Horizon. How accurate would it be to describe Infinite Rush as 'Hot Wheels Does Forza Horizon'? Because if so, get on my wishlist. Immediately.

Noticed something was due to run into platform 1 at Swanley this morning light engine, before heading out again the way it came in. No indication as to what the loco actually was. So I was pleasantly surprised when this guy rumbled in! 🚜

Colas Rail Class 37, 37099, idling in Platform 1 at Swanley station as the driver gets out of the far cab to change ends.

A close up of 37099's nameplate, Merl Evans 1947-2016, and a tribute plaque underneath.

(tw: medical/dental issues) I've been dealing with a toothache from a cracked tooth for the last few weeks. This morning, I got the tooth extracted. Feeling a bit sore and weird, & I'm on the dentist's orders to rest. Given I've been feeling burned out already lately? Very much needed.

Selfie of me sat on my couch, half smiling while looking pretty exhausted.

Because I'm half asleep, I misread Hulu as Hull. And somehow had concocted an entire new version of this show, entirely recast with A-list British actors exclusively from Yorkshire. Patrick Stewart, Sean Bean and Jodie Whittaker? Sign me up.

Had a horrible week dealing with a persistent toothache, so I treated myself to a nice cosy day out in Rochester yesterday. Tea & cake, hours spent browsing the shelves of a fantastic vintage bookshop, and Medway Pride vibes all round. Lovely. Just what the doctor, or maybe the dentist, ordered.

The most damaging thing about that ADHD documentary is people coming out with a positive opinion saying this: "Well it's right we question it, we shouldn't just jump to medication" That is literally not what happens after an ADHD diagnosis. They go through various ways to manage without medication

Hey, remember when this was first announced as coming 'in the next few months' & thousands of users (over 13,000 and counting) demanded that these features be optional and opt-out by default? They just turned it all on by default. Without warning. Shameless.

It's a year since The Greatest Gathering! From 1-3 August 2025 we welcomed thousands of visitors to 507001 at Alstom's works in Derby, as part of this once in a generation railway event. The pit tours and simulator were big hits! Thanks to Team 507 for all their hard work at the show.

Just a heads up, use this link to voice your concerns/opposition to this potential move. Ideally I don't want this at all, but at the very least any AI training features should be optional and opt-out BY DEFAULT. 'Creators MAY be able to opt out of SOME data' is pathetic & nowhere near enough.

No joke - the Ford Mondeo is why I'm a BTCC fan. My granddad owned one in the late 1990s, & the first time I watched BTCC as a kid was at my grandparents' house. I remember seeing a Mondeo on the track, & excitedly yelling 'GRANDDAD YOUR CAR'S RACING ON THE TELLY!' The rest is history. 💙

I do enjoy the Commonwealth Games, but they've been seriously struggling in recent times, and are running a massively scaled back Games this year. Still, I was looking forward to it. Until I found out it's all on TNT. Where far less people will be able to watch it. Because that makes sense 🙃

I'll be honest, one of the highlights of any football World Cup or Euros, is the BBC closing montage. I've watched this one over and over the last few days. It helps that I love the song used, but the editing is spectacular. Gives me chills. www.youtube.com/watch?v=20Fi...

After the most wonderful day out yesterday at the London Transport Museum Depot in Acton, I've been enjoying a much-needed peaceful morning today. As for what books to read over a cuppa tea? Well after yesterday, I've got quite a few new ones to choose from...

Five books are laid out on my bed. Top left is Railways of Britain: Norfolk & Suffolk, top right is Coming Up With The Goods. Middle left is British Rail Around The North-West, middle right is Stanier Locomotives: A Pictorial History. Bottom is The Southern Around London: A Colour Portfolio. Next to the last book is my hand holding a cup of tea in my Crash Bandicoot mug.

So far in the Rd of 32, almost every underdog team* has been eliminated in the most depressing, heartbreaking & often controversial ways possible. Clearly, this is all building up to an epic Cape Verde upset this evening. Or maybe it's just the level of disappointment this tournament deserves.
