Steam engine pollution is way more visible but yeah, not sure what the breakdown ultimately is there. Especially when you're talking more modern oil fired steam engines.

Should be better from an air quality standpoint too, unless you have data to the contrary. You're not going to be burning orders of magnitude less fuel with no rubber tire particulate pollution and somehow put out more pollution than the alternatives
