I know that Ingraham had a horrific shooting incident a couple years ago, but I really struggle with this as a solution. I teach in one of the most gun-violence plagued neighborhoods in LA and we would *never* do it bc it turns every kid into a suspect.

My experience with newly MAGA Latinos was that it was less abortion and more jobs, inflation, and deporting the "ones who make us look bad." The Spanish-language campaign by Trump in 2024 was brutally dishonest and, in the absence of any real countercampaign from the Dems, convincing.

Most of our diesel import infrastructure crosses the Northern & Southern LAND borders bc Canada and Mexico make up about 90% of our imports.

Tankers from where, exactly? Black Sea through the Dardanelles, then Suez, then past the Bab El Mandab? Or through the Strait of Gibraltar? It's 1war zone and no real distribution infrastructure on the East Coast, or 2 war zones and limited distribution infrastructure from the West.

This is one of the stupidest things he's ever announced. Importing 2M tons of diesel from a country that a) is rightfully sanctioned, b) has no easy way to get that diesel to us and c) is in the midst of a diesel shortage bc our *actual* ally has destroyed their refining capacity? Jesus.

Absolutely -- it was part of his platform. Most people believed it for good reason. My point isn't that he didn't make that promise, but that, alongside that promise he *also* said he was going to annihilate other countries and use the military extensively.

Yeah that's new, but it was also a bit in keeping with his 2018 tirades about how the WH was a shithole and needed a revamp and that Washington wasn't impressive enough to intimidate powerful men.

And with regards to "targeting only the worst immigrant criminals" it was pretty clear by his statements regarding the Haitians in Springfield and the Somalis in MInnesota and Maine that he was very clearly targeting everyone.
