Day 251 The dosage increase of topiramate came with really concerning side effects, so yeah that's not happening anymore. It was nice not having migraines for a while but the Forever Headache refuses to hide unless it's raining. I need to move back to the coast.

EI claim delay means we have to rely on family and credit to pay bills, eat, and scrape together November's rent. We resigned our lease tho and are getting December's rent free so while it doesn't immediately help, we can at least use that month to breathe and catch up a bit ❤️

Municipal and provincial ballots done. Now to go to the post office because I never even considered that I'd have to pay for postage on a municipal mail in ballot, and also, who the fuck has stamps on hand these days anyway?

Day 244 Topiramate week 1 Works wonders for migraine and I'm noticing a distinct absence of daily aura and subsequent migraine. But The intracranial hypertension headache, while (usually) a bit dulled, is still quite problematic. Tomorrow I increase the dose.

Charging $53 for a medical auth note for 2 weeks off work is predatory.

I've discovered that Topiramate makes carbonated drinks taste flat and I don't think I can handle the implications of that 😭

Day 237 Broke down and requested med leave. Asked for 1 mo. Got 2 wks. My CT is proof the headache is in fact as bad as I've said, yet I'm still treated like I should just be able to function like a healthy person while also having other debilitating chronic illnesses.

Real fucking bold of Manulife to send me this today when they pretended I didn't exist on Friday and I was forced to pay out of pocket for my optometrist appointment 💀

Day 227 Referred to a neuro-opthalmologist, which will take gods know how long, and to an optometrist for imaging in the meantime. Optometrist says no sign of papilledema. Now to follow up with the doc to request other tests while I wait for the specialist.

Day 219 It just hit me: I got similar headaches nearly every weekend for months before this was constant. I thought it was just some mild dehydration. I never kept track of anything because I've had chronic headaches for many years, so how long has this really been going on?

Trump's cult in a nutshell 🤣 www.castanet.net/news/Canada/...
When asked about Canada-U.S. trade tensions, rally attendees MaryAnn Miron said Canadians ought to get rid of Justin Trudeau - who announced his resignation in January 2025 and was replaced by Mark Carney as Prime Minister in March of that year.

"I feel sorry for you all with Trudeau," she said.

"I think you guys are in a crappy situation and he needs to be outed. And I think a lot of that is going to help solve the problem between the countries, but I wish you guys the best."

When informed that Tudeau is no longer the Prime Minister, Miron said, "I haven't been watching the news."

Day 217 CT report points to intracranial hypertension. I'm elated something - anything - showed, because my tests are so frequently normal it's always a miracle to have any kind of solid proof. Talking to my doc next week to see what the next steps are.

Day 210 CT done. It took 30 seconds. I hate that I had to suffer for several months, take a day off work, and travel to a whole ass other city for something that took 30 fucking seconds, when it could have easily been done here, if local healthcare actually functioned properly.

My mom and I happened upon someone earlier that had fallen off their bike. He wasn't moving. The street was busy and people clearly noticed him, but we were the only ones to stop. Luckily he was ok, but what if he wasn't? How the fuck do you people live with yourselves?

Continuous headache Day 191: It took 5.5mo and requisition resubmission, but I FINALLY have a CT appt. It's out of town, but I'll take it. Sept 2. Not optimistic about gaining any clarity from the results, but I need the CT before we can try to explore other avenues.

The aqi is around 150 right now and giving me a massive headache while I'm inside with the door and windows shut tight, and my neighbours have been out there chillin on their balcony for like an hour. Healthy people just do not give a shit about anything do they?

My nervous system has been in fight or flight mode for weeks, with lasting internal tremors and elevated resting heart rate. I cut out caffeine (my lifeline these days) in an effort to calm it. It may have helped a bit? Def not back to baseline yet but I feel much better today.

Still feeling a bit off, so waiting another week or so before starting the lower dose again, I'll be on it for prob 3mo before going back up again.

The saga continues: The lower bupropion dose was fine and I thought I'd be good to raise it to the normal dose after 30days, but here I am with serotonin syndrome-like symptoms again, so now I'm questioning everything. Doc appt Thurs, I'll ask for more of the lower dose.

We've been in our apartment for a full year now. Normally we'd be so disgusted by poor management or shitty neighbours we'd be ready to pack up and gtfo, but we're both quite content here. I hope we can hang on to this home for a long time.

I really missed hearing songbirds 🥹 It's so calming to listen to the robins at dusk. They start singing around 4am too so it's like a little lullaby if i'm having trouble sleeping.

2 weeks now off my regular meds to detox. I have a lower dose of bupropion to take once I feel the fluoxetine may be out of my system, and I might try it on the weekend, because these levels are ludicruous. It wasn't even this bad when the serotonin toxicity was at its worst.

Fluoxetine stays in your system for up to 5 weeks btw and taking your regular meds will continue to trigger serotonin syndrome as long as it's still present, so uhhhhh yeah that's real fun for someone that has major depressive disorder

Apparently I traded meds that kept me up at night with horrible restless legs for ones that caused serotonin syndrome instead 🙃 I took myself off them as soon as I realized what was happening but some of my muscles are still freaking out a few days later. I'm so sore ugh

Day 76: Doc confirmed the urgent CT request was sent March 17, so as usual it points to the poor state of the BC healthcare system. Interior Health isn't blameless here, but the system is broken province-wide and so much more still needs to be done. @davidebybc.bsky.social

Day 75: No CT yet, and I have a doc appt tomorrow specifically so I can ask him why the everloving fuck an "urgent" request is now more than a month old with zero movement. Do I need to be actively dying to get care? It shouldn't be this difficult. It shouldn't take this long.

Day 50: Some days are better than others and I still have no idea what the fuck I'm up against. No word on the CT scan appt yet 😑 I can function near my usual baseline most days and can manage to struggle thru the rest, so at least I haven't missed any more work.

We've spent nearly $500 on groceries in the last week. I get that we don't buy the cheapest possible food because of chronic illnesses/disabilities, but a 2wk grocery run cost us $300 last summer, and even then we thought it was ridiculous. We can afford it, but so many can't.

Actually most annoying is that the symptoms can't stay consistent for even one fucking day I've kept a symptom log since Feb 5 but how am I to be believed if my body can't decide what it's doing 🥴 This shit came out of left field and has no obvious or traceable explanation

5 weeks in: Ear irrigation helped a bit but some symptoms remain - I can hear well enough but I have lasting tinnitus, and the headache comes and goes. I can work full shifts again & no longer feel like I'm dying, so at this point I'm just annoyed that I don't know the cause.

This year's tax return has allowed my SO and I to upgrade our space a bit, and things are finally looking a bit more intentional and organized. We also bought a couch for the first time in nearly 20 years, which Chi immediately claimed as hers.

2 weeks ago I got the beginnings of a headache after bending down to pick something up. The headache hasn't stopped since, and other symptoms have been popping up. I've confirmed I don't have covid. But something's wrong, and it's seriously affecting my ability to do anything.

We got a bunch of frozen premade stuff delivered because I've had to keep my stress from skyrocketing and causing a crash, which would make me more susceptible to infection. I've chosen to focus on staying covid free and working, instead of making meals.

Day 6 Blessedly mild infection, and he's getting better. I'm struggling to find the energy to work, but will manage 40hrs this wk. Even so, we're gonna have to turn to fam to make bills next chq. Losing a week (or more) of pay is a massive blow.

Trying not to stress too much, and doing my best to keep surfaces clean. We're mutually masking. My ears hurt, a lot, which happens whenever there's any pressure on them for more than an hour. It's day 4. I'm ok so far. Desperate to keep it thay way.

In case you think the pandemic is over, Covid is in my home again. In 2026. Stop going to work sick. Stay home. Rest. Work from home instead. If you absolutely cannot be away from work, take precautions. Don't be a fucking dick. It's not difficult.
