MISINFORMATION ALERT The Canadian Press has published a misinformation piece entitled "What travellers should know about navigating WestJet strike disruptions" that repeat WestJet's message instead of legitimate information about your rights under the law.

Regrettably, the report's author declined to correct the error in her story, and suggested that we contact the CBC ombudsman instead.

Contrary what is stated in the article, Article 8(1) of the EU's Regulation 261/2004 require airlines to rebook passengers ***free of charge*** if they cancel flights. The APPR also contain such obligations: ss. 17(1), 18(1), and 18(1.1)(a). eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-conten...

We welcome the decision of WestJet's CEO to delete his unprofessional post on LinkedIn ("Guess who is paying for outsized compensation for air passengers? It's YOU through higher ticket prices.") We look forward to a full apology for the post and the ad hominem comment he added.

WestJet's CEO posted on LinkedIn about "study" that turns out to contain fake quotes. www.linkedin.com/posts/alexis... When he was called out about the hoax, he got very upset:

The APPR is the floor, not the ceiling. The APPR does not relieve the airline from liability under the Montreal Convention, Article 19. See Boyd v. WestJet, 2024 BCCRT 640: www.canlii.org/en/bc/bccrt/...

Air Canada must obey the law and honour its commitment to reimburse passengers for their meals, accommodation, and out-of-pocket expenses incurred during the strike. The response below disingenuously sidesteps liability for expenses under the Montreal Convention, Article 19.

AIR CANADA MISINFORMATION ALERT The email below misrepresents passengers' rights to a rebooking under the APPR. * "5 days" should read "48 hours" * "same or lower cabin" should add "unless only higher class was available on the next available flight" * delete "same origin"

MISINFORMATION ALERT: CBC Regrettably, CBC has been regurgitating Air Canada's press release. This is inaccurate. 1) Under the APPR, AC must rebook passengers on competitor airlines if it cannot rebook them on their own. 2) The Carriage by Air Act provides more protection.

Did you receive such a message from Air Canada? If so, DO NOT take a refund. Instead, search for alternative flights on your own, and buy a new flight WITHOUT accepting a refund -- then make Air Canada pay for the costs of your new flight.

WESTJET SCAM ALERT: WestJet was selling "premium" seats on flights that had no such seats at all. If you were a victim of this scam, you are entitled to a refund of the fare difference. Refund means cash, not credit. For more information, see report by Diana Zlomislic: archive.is/zkuHs
