The public housing dept actually builds low-income housing & manages the city housing dept that rents the apts & duplexes. They oversee the community block grants that fund HFH & other nonprofit building. And build in cooperation with big corps what can fund bigger buildings.

There is a need for both: apartments for rent & smaller homes for purchase by low to moderate incomes. There isnt enough profit for developers to build small basic homes so that is why non-profits like HFH step in & help.

Exactly- keeping the affordable homes affordable to those who live in the community is the priority. Instead of allowing real estate developers to buy up a bunch & put bandaid on them & renting them at higher prices.

I did build two entire homes in 14 days with 100 volunteers each day. People traveled from other states to participate. AtJimmy Carter builds they build entire development in a short period of time w/enormous #s of volunteers who PAY to participate. My brother did two in Hawaii.

My city has few areas of low density. They have already jumped that hoop. We dont have endless suburbs with low density. There R development from the 1970s w/1/4 acre lots. But the newer developments have tiny yds, garages in the back w/alleys.
