Technically it's meant to be Chunerpeton, which is common in that locality, but yes, I used Axolotl as a reference lol

A Jurassic otter that could chew and swallow like modern mammals
The 165-million-year-old mammal predecessor had strong hind limbs and a broad tail for swimming, plus the same throat structures that enable modern mammals to eat a diverse diet.

Today our paper introducing Megacauda is published in Nature! Which means I can finally share my illustration! Meet this beautifully preserved Jurassic, semi-aquatic swimmer #sciart #paleontology

Found a use for this X-ray fabric! Added a back panel to this denim jacket and I'm loving it! #sewing

With my upcoming departure from the University of Michigan, I've found myself deep in the job hunt process. Moving back to Canada from the U.S is certainly something I'm really looking forward too. If any 🇨🇦 labs (especially in Alberta) are searching for a µ-CT expert, please let me know!

Oh hi new followers! Welcome! I'd be curious to hear where you're all coming from. I'm not super active at the moment - focusing on IRL stuff for myself - but I'm around. I'm working on a project that is a little different from my norm, but I'll share it when it's more complete, so that's coming.

Some of the content I will miss from Insta are the videos of people making things, all sorts of things that I never thought about how they were made. I esp enjoy seeing vids of traditional crafting. Any recommendations for accounts to follow to see more of that type of thing here?

Leaving FB will be fairly easy for me. I think it's mostly just given the illusion of connectedness for a while. Instagram, however, will be harder. What are people using as alternatives? Is Cara good?

I've been very much focusing on making things lately - it's been good for my mental health. Been sewing and #mending lately for a bit of something different. My current works in progress are some elbow patches on a chambray shirt and a dress I'm #upcycling to a duster/surcoat!
A blue chambray shirt featuring elbow patches with a white and yellow zigzag design. There are some embroidered zigzag lines, but there will be more when I finish it. A turquoise garment is laid out on a large table. It is dress-shaped, but has been opened up along the front like a jacket and also opened up along the sides to the waist. There are strips of light blue bias tape along the center opening.

And then there was the issue of disposing the wayer. I wasn't sure about pouring a whole bunch of dissolved glue down my drain was the best idea. I strained it through cheese cloth and paper towels first.

Definitely worth a try, except in this case some of the supports would be inside the cranium. I could potentially break those up and pull them out...

April Neander 🏳️‍🌈 @aineander.bsky.social · 01/01/2025
Here is the support surface. Not too impressed, but perhaps worth experimenting with and tweaking parameters at some point. If only multi materials didn't take so very long to print

I've been repairing and maintaining a 10 year old 3D printer at work. You can't buy replacement parts for it anymore, so I've cannibalized other printers that were being thrown out. Really, it still works decently if you run it slow, but the thing that is holding it back the most is the software.
