Last night had a one hour battle with a roach and won. It was a deeply harrowing experience cause after I hit him the first time, he fell, still alive, into my junk drawer next to my bed and I had to pull items out one by one with tongs until I shook him loose and crushed him with a cane 10 times

I love it when a character does a smart or cool thing and the author immediately undercuts it by having characters or the narrator themselves comment on how smart and cool it is rather than letting the moment speak for itself. (I am lying. I deeply hate this).
