Thank you to those who used AIMBE's advocacy letter template urging your Members of Congress to support SBIR/STTR reauthorization! However, our work is not finished as the bill now heads to the House for final consideration. ✍ You can still send a letter here: takeaction.io/aimbe/sbir-s...
March 4, 2026

Dear Colleagues,

Thank you for taking the time to use AIMBE’s advocacy letter template to contact your Senators and Representatives in support of reauthorizing the SBIR and STTR programs. Your willingness to speak up on behalf of innovation and entrepreneurship makes a real difference.

Yesterday, the Senate unanimously passed legislation to reauthorize the SBIR and STTR programs. This is an important milestone and a strong signal of bipartisan recognition of the value these programs bring to small businesses, researchers, and the broader innovation ecosystem. Your personal engagement on this issue has provided a measurable impact. Outreach from the AIMBE community has helped reinforce the message that these programs are essential to translating biomedical discoveries into real-world technologies that improve patient care and drive economic growth. However, our work is not yet finished. The bill now heads to the House for consideration before it can be sent to the President’s desk. We will continue to monitor developments closely and will keep you informed of opportunities to stay involved if additional outreach is needed.

Thank you again for your engagement and for demonstrating the power of collective advocacy. Together, we are helping ensure that critical programs like SBIR and STTR remain available and accessible to the innovators who rely on them.

With appreciation,
Dawn Beraud, Ph.D.
