A request for help. I have a surgery Friday, and my already not enough financial situation is going to be even more dire. See images for full details and fill transparency, and see the cover for my upcoming poetry collection! 1/2 Kofi: ko-fi.com/kpjunberry

The Issue

Complete, total honesty. I am in a very bad financial position, monetarily and with my credit score, for those who are also in the US and deal with that as well. For the last year a quarter or so, I have been attempting to find a second job (or a full time replacement job for the one I currently have). There have been only a handful of interviews, none of which led to anywhere. I will absolutely take some of the weight for this, I am far too old and far too tired to be aggravating my chronic physical issues with constant standing (literally painful) and risking re-injuring my back (I’ve already pushed it to the point in the past where I could not stand, I refuse to go back to that), etc. Along with my ADHD which has its whole host of comorbidities, I will admit to being choose-y (and even then, I have broken those lines a few times to attempt at least an interview, and nothing).

Part of the weight goes on Denver. This job market here is horrendous, and there is no indication of it getting any better. When I moved to Denver 4.5 years ago, I did not expect to spend so long in the pits of recovering from severe burnout and adjusting to no longer living in survival mode; and I definitely did NOT expect to lose the job that allowed me to move in the first place. To say that my plans for after moving have completely, utterly, and entirely failed is an understatement.

The Request

With the surgery I am getting on the 27th, I will be out of work for two weeks, which leaves me a paycheck short for April. On top of the basic monthly bills, Gusu really should have an ultrasound and a more in depth blood test (I think it was a blood test) to determine what is causing his calcium levels to be elevated. They are not at a “dangerous” level, but the vet and myself agree it is better to find the problem NOW instead of later. I have actually already delayed these from the last vet appointment six months ago.

So I need help. In the long run, this procedure will be beneficial for a LOT of reasons, physical and mental.

I am slowly getting the sparsest of writer websites set up, a handful are already subscribed. But that is a long term solution, and it is going very slow, and I need the help now.

Linked is my Kofi. Of course there is absolutely no pressure, but if you have anything to spare, it is very much needed over here.

Full Transparency

A few of you are aware that I have a trip planned for later this year. A friend is upfronting the money for me as well as her to go to LA to see BTS in September. The agreement is I pay her my allotment before then.

Is this irresponsible?

Probably.

But it is honestly something much needed. I need something to look forward to, to experience, to have a chance of feeling actually alive instead of the day to day.

And I desperately need the opportunity to get out of Colorado, even if only briefly.

Why am I even mentioning this?

Because it already feels atrocious to even have to be asking for help like this, it feels truly untenable to ask and not mention this. I would hate for anyone to help now, and then see talk of that trip and feel deceived.

Cover of my upcoming poetry collection "Screaming Lessons". Back and Front Cover laid out flat. Background is a bulletin board. The front cover on the right has paper with the self made pull tabs, the intersectional queer pride flag, multiple crumpled sticky notes, some push pins, and some enamel pins of self made stickers and charms. A trans flag sits on the very right, and a pencil on a chain hangs from the top.

On the back cover to the left, a paper is centered, whole, no tear off pieces. The post its and pins continue to this side.

On the back reads: A collection of poems about the loss of voice, the desire to yell and scream, and the continued struggle to regain the space anyone should never be denied.

KP Junberry is a queer writer who spends time finding stories from across the globe. In brief moments he isn't, he studies various languages, learns piano, lifts weights, and has been known to hike to see dinosaur tracks in the wild.

Maybe! A lot of my art is not suitable for printing tho (mainly for color/size reasons), this was just a test run of a few of them.

Look you just have to make the cool weird shit that excites you. You must. In this world besieged by bland, scrubbed boring, computer slop, you must. Make the thing you’re embarrassed to make, the thing that feels “too much” because otherwise we get drowned in a sea of cowardly work made by a button
