Sony discontinuing physical disks was predictable but still incredibly disappointing. Anyone defending it as "steam does the same thing!" is either misinformed or arguing in bad faith. Unlike PCs, a Playstation is a closed system. And unlike Steam, PSN lacks library sharing or good a refund policy.

I'm a bit out of the loop, was Pokemon Legends Z-A a total dumpster fire or something? It's only been out for half a year but I've seen it on sale more often than any other nintendo game. It's basically the same price as BOTW and that game's almost a decade old.

We've discovered a previously unknown to us version of Oblivion. There was Chinese version of Oblivion Mobile, which upon initial inspection appears to have additional assets not in the English version. We're still investigating, but this is very interesting!

Yeah ordinarily I'd say yes but the combat in this case is a tutorial and the driving is a races/ring challenges with the unarmed vehicles. Later vehicle missions are a lot better for sure

I'm replaying Jak 3 for the first time in a decade and I forgot how rough the beginning is. You start off with a combat tutorial + 2 weapons and then get thrown into a series of clunky vehicle races and a button pressing mini game. Strange to start an action platformer with no action or platforming

Part of my beef with liveservice games is the wasted potential. A game with a really cool concept could be destroyed by a grindy gameplay to encourage people to spend money or lock cool characters behind a paywall. Not to mention a good IP/studio having resources diverted to making such a game

I refuse to play Avowed simply because Windows game me a pop up ad for it on the taskbar. I thought I had accidentally installed adware. I knew they had been cramming ads in the bloated start menu for a while, but adding "recommended software" to the notifications center is a whole new level.

Dreams on PC would be amazing. It felt weird on the PS4 because the creator was so powerful. On the PC it would suit well as a simple game engine and make external exporting etc more feasible.

Dreams was cool but I think it was too robust for its own good. Creating stuff felt daunting and the resulting creations were complex enough that an author would be justified in asking to release/sell them externally. I think LBP2 straddled the line of creative freedom without too much complexity.

I really miss the "play create share" era of PlayStation games. LittleBigPlanet and ModNationRacers were my jam. I bet they would have been recieved really well if they were released today. It's a shame that most zany customization in online games has been scrapped in lieu of microtransactions.
