Cancer associated fibroblast–T cell crosstalk promotes purinergic synthesis in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)
The most abundant stromal cells of the tumor microenvironment (TME), cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), inhibit the cytotoxic T cell response in solid tumors. CD39 and CD73 together deplete extr...

Researchers (Akram lab) have developed a new imaging technique combined with AI that can accurately identify major types of non-small cell lung cancer, potentially helping patients receive the right treatment sooner than current methods. Summary: edin.ac/4ezSZSV Full paper : edin.ac/4xnBixu

IRR Group Leader Prof Ahsan Akram, appeared on STV last night to call for the rollout of lung cancer screening in Scotland. Early diagnosis saves lives - Scotland has no national lung cancer screening programme, in contrast to England, which has already screened 1M+ people. edin.ac/4qebkIr

👋🏽 Blueskyers. Doing a phased migration over here. I usually post about our research successes, failures, lab group ice cream outings and lung cancer screening (and in no particular order).
