iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

A track Seth and I threw together yesterday in the practice space. It’s always a good sign when a track you’re working on leaves you wanting more. Just instrumental for now but leaves a lot of room for vox. You ever hear a drummer shred like that on the Geetar????

Extended version of this idea with a little jam at the end. Will and I have been workshopping some ideas to turn this one into a full track. I think the general theme has a lot of potential, even if this idea gets scrapped — the guilt, shame, embarrassment of letting someone down or hurting them

Just saw a post about Joe’s Story on an indie subreddit. That comment section is wildly mean 😂. I think ultimately some of them will end up liking the re-record though, so I’m looking forward to that. Just an FYI, we’re currently working on a brand new album. This was just a fun 10yr thing

Thanks to Many Hats distribution I was able to get 1 Trait Bangers back on streaming. Distrokid can kiss my piss

I’m off Twitter but hopefully this at least saves a few people some trouble

I honestly have no idea what the process would be to get us to this point. Like you said, very confusing on many levels. My best guess would be they somehow matched the audio to 1 Trait Danger as the copyright offender without their system checking if the offender is the artist? Who knows

I plan to use a small distribution company called Many Hats. I can let you know what my experience with them is. As for 1 Trait Bangers, you can always listen on Bandcamp but as far as streaming goes, it’s unclear if it’ll ever be back.

What I do know is that I’ll be pulling all of my material from @distrokid.com and moving it elsewhere. Corporate greed has struck yet another company that, for many years, was doing great work. It’s really sad to see. I urge anyone that uses them to transfer your work to someone else. cont…

At the end of every chat session I’m met with a hard stop reply telling me they will “send this to the appropriate team” and that I’ll get an email response in 1-2 days. The response never comes. It’s unknown if I’ll actually ever be able to reinstate the album. Cont…

In my attempts to remedy the situation, I’m met with chatbots that run you in circles to try to keep you away from real human agents. When finally breaking through to a person, they send copy/pasted responses that have nothing to do with my issue. Cont…

Firstly, they’re obviously emailing me to email myself. Secondly, even if this was legitimate, how could this be resolved via the two parties emailing each other when it’s Distrokid that has the power to pull the albums? Cont…

No investigation, no proof, instantly deleted my OWN album simply by asking them to copyright strike someone misusing my music. They sent me an email that I’ll screenshot here, stating that I need to email MYSELF to resolve the copyright strike. Which is insane on many levels. Cont…

I could, in theory, replace the images of my album covers in these screenshots and pretend to be ANY musician on @distrokid.com and get the same results that happened to me… The entire album that the song I ran a copyright strike for was deleted from my account and pulled from streaming. Cont…

They instructed me to send a link to the unoriginal TikTok sound in question as well as simple screenshots of my account page to verify I am the owner. The screenshots they asked for were in no way identifying to me being the owner. The potential here for fraud is staggering. cont…

If you’re a musician, do not use @distrokid.com to distribute your music. Read on if you’re wondering where 1 Trait Bangers went… I ran a copyright strike against the use of a track from the album on TikTok, as directed by Distrokid customer support (which is almost exclusively bots now) cont…

This is how they came up with their hit, Dude Looks Like a Lady. So we’ve been dumping our strangest and worst into this folder. This one surely lives in that folder

So we have this shared folder that I named, “No Such Thing As A Bad Idea” after an interview I saw with Aerosmith. They would have these weekly meetups where they would bring their strangest and seemingly worst ideas to practice to see if they inspired anything. cont…

This, but someone who can sing, again. Another Seth/Andrew jam. We’re in this mode of throwing a bunch of random stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks in preparation for the work on the next album. The idea is to fill up a bunch of folders with snippets to maybe inspire more fleshed out ideas
