My symptoms may no longer be continually active, but the potential for them remains a constant presence. Those who see me at my laughing, smiling best could never imagine the delicate balancing act behind every moment. The impossible decisions over what is too much or not enough; the silent background calculations as to how close I might be to collapse. There is always sacrifice: always a demand from past or future that necessitates a scaling back in the present.

For more information about this film, including cast names and bios, see director Sara Nesson's website: www.saranesson.com/unbound I've also attached an important disclaimer (see image) from the website. @mecfs @longcovid 2/2 #MEcfs #LongCovid #NEISvoid #ChronicIllness #Dance #Art
Disclaimer: Unbound does not attempt to represent the full range of lived experiences of people with ME/CFS and Long COVID. Every participant navigates illness differently, and the twenty individuals featured here reflect only a small portion of that diversity. While some participants identify as having severe or very severe illness, they chose to film brief moments of movement during rare windows of available energy rather than in states of complete stillness. These moments should not be understood as representative of their day-to-day functioning. Rather than documenting the totality of these illnesses, Unbound explores creativity, connection, and expression within the realities each participant lives. We hope it offers one window into lives that are too often unseen, while recognizing that no single film can capture the full breadth and complexity of ME/CFS or Long COVID.

Like Mari, many disabled people must rely on unsafe or unstable care situations due to systemic gaps in support. A 2025 literature analysis found women with disabilities face domestic violence more than nondisabled women. The authors described how disabled women experience unemployment and lack of accessible housing and services, among other barriers, creating unique vulnerabilities to domestic violence.

Plaintiffs argued in two lawsuits, both filed in federal court in Boston, that Trump’s order should be found unconstitutional because the states and Congress, not the president, have the power to set election rules. The judge agreed, saying in her ruling that the provisions of Trump’s order seeking to create a federal list of eligible voters and using the U.S. Postal Service to determine who can receive a mail ballot are “legally void” because they “unconstitutionally violate the separation of powers.”

Collaboration with Science for ME (S4ME)

S4ME, an established and internationally active ME/CFS patient community, contributes to the WE&ME Research Funding Programme. Its core value lies in the credibility and patient-centred legitimacy that an established, independent community lends to the programme. It nominates three of the seven standing jury members (plus two back-ups), embedding patient expertise directly into proposal assessment and funding decisions with full voting rights. It also promotes the programme’s calls and awards through its own channels, encourages donations, and brokers introductions to patient organisations abroad. For WE&ME, the participation of S4ME is absolutely vital for the success of the funding programme.

There is a recurring pattern in the history of medicine that still pops up from time to time. When our understanding of a disease lags far behind the need for explanations, biology becomes a matter of one’s own perception. This inevitably shifts the burden of proof back onto the people we should be helping; those who suffer with the disease.

Oregon’s vote-by-mail system works — and has for decades.

Oregon pioneered vote-by-mail, and the system has earned bipartisan praise. Three Republican secretaries of state oversaw Oregon’s vote-by-mail system and championed its security and accessibility. Today, vote-by-mail is used across the country, including in Republican-led states, and has grown in popularity with voters of all political backgrounds. Even President Trump voted by mail recently in a Florida local election.

The issue: Many people with ME/CFS and Long COVID experience clear symptoms of orthostatic intolerance (OI) — feeling significantly worse when upright — but are told their autonomic testing is “normal” because they don’t meet criteria for POTS or orthostatic hypotension (OH).

Key distinction: POTS is one specific cause of OI, not the whole picture. Orthostatic intolerance is a broader category, and the absence of a POTS diagnosis does not rule out other causes of OI, including other forms of dysautonomia.

Renée Sieber, an associate professor at McGill University who researches government AI adoption, warns such systems could justify further layoffs of public service workers and obscure accountability by blaming the AI or assessment tools that helped greenlight them when something goes wrong. For example, chatbots might provide incorrect information to an employee assessing benefits claims, leading to a wrongful denial.

“We should be skeptical” of modernization efforts coming out of this contract, she told Ricochet Media.

A Government-funded study will sequence the genomes of up to 6,000 patients with chronic fatigue syndrome to guide better diagnosis and targeted treatments.

The £4.75m research project is the largest of its kind and will generate a high-resolution genetic map of the illness.

Scientists hope it could unlock the biological causes of ME/CFS which causes debilitating fatigue, sleep difficulties and cognitive impairment.
