That’s very kind. Willow sends a very high pitched miaow and a headbutt which means Happy Christmas in Cat.

And very beautiful they are too.

Yes, my third blue cream. Cats look wrong in any other colour!

She is. Two years old and very funny.

They’re very handsome. This is Willow, our small, squeaky grey one.

Thank you. It’s been difficult but I’m glad I didn’t give up.

I have paused briefly from nothing-ing to take tea and a mince pie. I shall now resume…

That’s very kind, but I’m not sure I will.

I have more or less finished the dreaded dissertation. Frankly, if I pass it will be a miracle, but having got there in the face of chronic fatigue and other fun health issues is an achievement in itself. I am now doing absolutely nothing. Not. A. Thing. Zilch. Diddly squat.

Briefly popping in to say how much I hate Harvard referencing. Or, in fact, every other flavour of the same. *departs. replaces nose on grindstone *

See BBC Springwatch 2024. I thought I had my numbers wrong BUT “one monthly flea treatment for a large dog can kill 25 million bees!”. I’m a dog owner BTW, luckily my boy has a tablet, not a droplet. Goes someway to explain some of our insect decline. 25 MILLION 😳 beevive.com/blogs/bee-bl...

Do Our Pet Flea Treatments Kill Our Bees?

Shops are stocking more flea treatments than ever before to prevent any pests from entering our homes. In the UK, we have an estimated 11 million cats and 12 million dogs in 2023. There are currently ...

How very wise. My submission date approaches so necessarily editing will have to stop. But… *pick* *pick*

AHappyFlower @ahappyflower.bsky.social · 08/12/2024

So there’s a finite time you can spend editing your dissertation, isn’t there?!? Somebody crowbar me away from it, I have a bibliography to finish…

It was lovely to perform as Queen Victoria yesterday for the fabulous Heartwood Inns. The Royal Forest is absolutely stunning, fit for a Queen!

This. We don't get dying "right", right now. How will we manage assisted dying too? So many traumatic stories being shared about bad deaths, but if we got palliative care right, would they still be traumatic? My fear is it becomes either/or, when it needs to be sufficient funding & support for both.

I’m back from reformer pilates, in which I horrify myself anew at how my body doesn’t bend. I’m a rusty old bucket.

My dear friend Ethel, looking up at the slowly appearing moon, asked me if I navigated by the stars.. Peng, she said, Peng, how do you know where you're going, under water, how do you know what bit of land you've landed on, it seems frightfully difficult. Well, said I, even a bird has a brain.

I have an interview with Scorsese (not by me, obv) on the Donat site with him referencing The Magic Box when talking about Hugo. He’s a very influenced man.
