The thing about “jokes” that are just restatements of the actual attitude of people who are your peers is the question becomes…what is the joke, exactly. I know he’s deleted the tweet now but tomorrow it’ll be a different AI guy doing the exact same thing with some other aspect of his life.

Like I’m happy to discuss how children’s inability to consent is one reason a civil society has an obligation to maintain minimum standards and access to resources/education/etc., because each child deserves that regardless of their parents’ choices/lifestyle. But that’s different lol.

The quiet smugness of the Amazon profile non-havee. I know it’s not possible for everyone to avoid using them for shopping, but boy it feels good when you can. I mean they have years of my data from before of course. No one is truly outside the panopticon.

Yeah market demand does not ethics make. I understand people have to eat under capitalism but that doesn’t justify literally anything you choose to do. I mean that’s why markets should be regulated. It’s why we try to have a society instead of chaos. Well, someone of us try anyway.

“The thing AI haters miss is the real demand people have for what AI does every day” ok but a huge amount of that is just bad. And absurd. People want to do bad and harmful things. Demand doesn’t make it a good idea.
