What differentiates legit requests from malicious; rate? I guess you could block anyone hitting bogus endpoints or key entries in, e.g., robots.txt; headers if the scrapers are playing by the rules. Sorry if this is an open source project. I'm mobile so I haven't pulled up your site to check myself

I was going to ask @aarongreenspan.com where the address prefixes to filter 50% of traffic came from; is it just country filtering? In my experience I haven't seen scrapers taking sites i'm connected down yet. My intuition says there's something else at play here.

Hey, we're Americans, damnit, and our choices are limitless if we put our minds to it. For example, we've got the measles option here in Pennsylvania.

the brand safety panopticon has come to twitch
Streamers, wary of both AI and YouTube’s infuriatingly un-transparent hall of mirrors, are not enthused about this new development.

“Ohhh so that’s why ad revenue dropped,” longtime streamer JP "itmeJP" McDaniel said on Twitter.

“I’m genuinely worried that the sheer fact that I’m a lesbian will cause the AI to remove ads,” said Vtuber LuminusRed. “In the past I’ve tested it and confirmed that I get less ad money if I had queer-related tags on my stream like ‘lesbian,’ so I am worried this dumb AI monitoring will mean I no longer get money from ads on Twitch.”

Why do the Chinese in particular use this English font for practically everything computer-related? Manuals, code, UI's all use this distinct font.

I remember waiting 20+ minutes for shiny abstract shapes to render on my Pentium 75. Raytrace blew my mind. I can't remember what software I was using though. This takes me back. Computers were cool. 😅

Feels like it's pretty easy to avoid using public chargers with a somewhat low reward to risk ratio, but I'd agree that if your training normies you want to focus on the top-n issues that really count instead of overwhelming them with minuta.

My wife and I watched Bone Tommahawk after I described it simply as "a Western with Kurt Russell" whom we recently saw in The Christmas Chronicles. It didn't go well. I didn't know it would be that jarring. She trapped out hard. 😬

In my experience it takes a while (not everyone has FTTH and people often conflate giga-bit vs giga-Byte per second connection speeds). Still, we're talking minutes, not hour but until we have TB's worth of GPU memory an AI that spreads itself is not a credible idea

And capability is directly proportional to dimensionality is directly proportional to model size, so they can't get better + smaller.

Even if these things could run on a 3090, you're talking about transferring, storing then loading gigabytes worth of data for the model. It's like a virus from the 80's/90's only super expensive if it got your cloud keys or so resource intensive you couldn't ignore it.

It's difficult to live without, e.g., a vehicle in the US, another industry that's shifted to 5G data collection and subscription features. I'll make due without a TV though. I would expect someone to cater to that market segment. The trick is to stop buying.

If I was an evil corporation, I would offer free email to everyone in the world and then read everything they send or receive and use that information to make money. I would know every account they hold, every online purchase they make, every event they attend.

No, it's just another grift that won't go anywhere. The government pays out for contracts to cronies that are never fulfilled but kickback to trump. The price of oil remains artificially low for a little longer too if investors are as stupid/desperate as we know them to be.

Flock takes their privacy very seriously. But the ethical gray area in surveillance technology works both ways. Under no circumstances should elected officials or public servants enjoy an expectation of privacy when spending tax dollars to attend a surveillance lobbying event.

Good luck with your 4000+ layoff's, Cisco. I'm sure the seemingly-random invoices and circular logic bugs have nothing to do with your replacement of employees with AI.

A circular issue like the inability to log into an administrative panel because you don't have telephony credits but you must log in to buy credits has to be a systemic issue. I'll drop the emails; this was the easiest way of reaching somebody. Thanks for your reply.

I had signed up ages ago to explore Duo as a solution. At some point a Duo rep called me to inform me we were being given free credits or something. This was before the Cisco acquisition, so they were probably trying to boost numbers. Anyway, we had an account we ended up not using.
