For the 3rd time this morning, the cat is at the door demanding to go out. It is raining and chilly. He will be back in 20 or 30 min, demanding to be let in. Door does not open to summer, but he keeps trying. I share his desire and respect his determination.

Kentucky doesn’t call a special Senate election if a vacancy occurs within 3 months of the next election, and that cutoff falls around Aug. 3. So… that’d be the motivation.

A bus of Bronx middle schoolers pulled up to the Capitol this morning for a long-planned field trip just a few hours after the government shut down. All Capitol tours were cancelled as the guides can’t work in shutdown. So I escorted them in myself and gave them a personal tour. They were great!
