A pair of hunters kill a deer in front of its mother and make The Hulk very, very angry in Defenders #31. The Hulk strangles one hunter with his own gun and skips the other across a pond until his skull collides with a tree in Defenders #31.

Ha, I was just snipping from The Untold Story about this very thing. It's a real inflection point of the Shooter era and shows the mounting tensions in the 80s working for companies without creative ownership.

Reading through Steve Gerber's Defenders run. Giant-Size Defenders #3 is great for two reasons: early Don Newton art over Starlin layouts for part of it, and an absolutely brutal death for the Sub-Mariner (it's a cosmic game by The Grandmaster, he gets better).
Valkyrie fights a foe that cannot die in Giant-Size Defenders #3.Sub-Mariner is beaten to death by an alien lizard man's tail as he suffocates from lack of water in Giant-Size Defenders #3.

If I was making a movie bringing back characters from a movie made in 2000 and didn't want people to think I had gravel for brains, I would simply not say this.

I love this scene in "Planet of Evil" where the landing party is trying to figure out what's going on and the captured Doctor just stands there staring ahead wide-eyed. It makes the character truly weird and alien when those moments are few and far between because the series is so well established.
Tom Baker makes The Doctor truly otherworldly. Tom Baker makes The Doctor truly otherworldly.

Films Watched: February 2026. Continuing with Capra, including his first collaboration with Barbara Stanwyck. She's one of the most radiant screen presences of all time from the start, a wrecking ball through the stiffness of early sound acting.

Amused to see a Looney Tunes-esque reaction to Marilyn Monroe in 1949's Love Happy (co-written by Frank Tashlin) when 1956's The Girl Can't Help it (directed by Frank Tashlin) is full of similar reactions to Jayne Mansfield.
