This isn't only about money. Students are demanding equality and social justice. One Paris student said his school went a whole year without a science teacher, and it's even worse in the suburbs. Years of underfunding have a cost, and teenagers are paying it.

Around 2,000 people taken into custody, 90% of them minors. About 170 students injured. Teenagers asking for schools that work deserve to be heard, not tear-gassed. The unions are right: drop all sanctions and prosecutions for simply taking part in protests.
