Finally Playdate begun its Season 2, and so far the first two games are DAMN good, like, SERIOUSLY GOOD. Season 1 had a fair share of games, but it felt like they could have done more. The game i'm showing here is Dig Dig Dino, one of my first favourites.

I don't know if it's just me but the Expedition 33 soundtrack heavily reminds me of how NieR Replicant and Automata were able to deliver amazing emotions conveyed through the music. Not that both games have the same kind of writing tonality, which is incredible.

One of my first 3d printing attempts. Really feel lucky to have a FDM printer, though printing miniatures with it is going to be a pain in the ass rn. This Millenium falcon isn't as pretty detailed as it should be as right now i only have been messing around with the default 0.4mm nozzle.

#playdate Every once in unknown periods i still make strange mockups out of nowhere. Have this utterly strange game i imagined. If you were wondering who i was inspired to make this, that's Goichi Suda (Suda51) for you.

I imagined that in this mockup there's a inspective part of gameplay where you look around the scene and examine objects you see in front of you, hence the presence of the "QUAESITUM" text label from the top left of the screen. The message box represents the current situation of the scene, while the selections, both labeled as "Statue", represent the objects you could select in the scene, although i had decided to represent both of them rather than displaying one. Lastly, at the bottom left of the screen, there's the command reminders for Navigate and Bag, in which uses the Playdate button icons for reference.

Another mockup screen. This one is vastly different as it represents a hypothetical screen describing a bestiary entry or a detailed log of a statue entity. In this game i would probably treat the statue as a sort of entity you could encounter in the game. In the entry log, a name of the entity is first shown, followed by a brief description with another, gothic based font, followed by a (unfortunately hard to read from the same gothic font i've used) UPPERCASE name, Aurelio. I don't have the time to write up a concept for how the statues have a lore relation, so let's just put this here. Up next we have a "link powers" list which enlists effects. I had no idea why i placed that mechanic out of nowhere, but if we had to put it right here, it would probably have a mechanic where the player could ally with them or associate them as passive entities so that the player character could obtain advantages. Lastly, there's a button label with Return.

There's a Playdate OS/SDK update out today, 2.7.2. (Get it in Settings > System > System Update). While it doesn't have a lot of features for players, it sets the stage for a big new part of Playdate: networking. That means developers can start writing things like—that's right—multiplayer games.
