1. Oasis - Kitaro - Peace, tranquility, and ambience, featuring the coolest tech of the late 1970s and early 1980s. I listened to this for hours on my Sony Walkman.

2. Forgotten Gods - Suspended Memories (Roach, Rich, Reyes) - Dark, tribal awesomeness. My first exposure to an innovative concept around 1993. It wasn't New Age, it wasn't dystopian synth movie music... Wow!

3. Deep Breakfast - Ray Lynch - DIY multi-instrumental genius. Why doesn't anyone talk about Ray anymore?

4. Aeon - Dead Can Dance - A dramatic, organic meld of history and technology.

5. Beneath The Icy Floe - Projekt sampler v.5 (compilation) - A collection of introspective indie, dark, Goth tunes that hit a good nerve in the early 00s.

6. The City - Vangelis - Concept album featuring environmental recordings, samples, and a hybrid electronic approach. I think I discovered this via Columbia House.

7. Green Desert - Tangerine Dream - I know everyone loves Phaedra, but this is my personal TD fave. I could loop 'Indian Summer' for hours.

8. The Dark Crystal (soundtrack, 1982) - Trevor Jones and the London Symphony Orchestra - Along with Jim Henson's amazing, other-worldly vision, this soundtrack was a mainstay. Shortly after having seen the movie, I used my lawn mowing money to buy the original LP, recorded it onto reel tape at 15 ips, and listened to it hundreds of times.

9. Renaissance - William Ellwood

Obviously, a musician's influences go far deeper than just a few albums, or the albums we feel are related to what we do. I know I've got a little bit of Blue Oyster Cult, Disney, and Sesame Street in me if we want to go way back. And if I were to fast-forward, I can't deny that artists like Ruxpin, arovane, and Eskostatic have offered more contemporary inspiration.
