I don't generally write that much stuff that I'd find super relatable to myself - fic is a space to enjoy concentrated, in-steroids emotional candy made of stuff that appeals to me. But sometimes it's so special putting something a bit personal out there and hearing "me too!" echoed back 🥺

Fandom isn't activism and some AO3 fic isn't normalizing anything in this world (I wish!!) but stories really do have the power to let you try on different things and see how that makes you feel. Sometimes it's "ew nope" and you can leave, no harm done. But sometimes it's the famous "oh. OH".

I got one comment like this today - saying that the story made the reader "feel more human" among doubts and worries about their own life (being vague on purpose so as to not put them on blast, tiny as this account is) idk how to describe that except...extremely humbling

Anyway, what blew me away was the number of people who commented saying it was the *first time* they felt seen and represented in a fic, or that the relationship in the story made them think "oh I want this" even if they never heard of such a thing before.

Rambling storytime In my previous fandom, the fic I probably was most "well known" for socially was a queerplatonic fic written for a domesticity-focused event. It was playing with the "two dorks are the last to know they're in love" trope except they're...kind of not? Very fun, it's a fun story!
