YES!!!! Beastmaster dropped partway through XIV Write this year and I'm not sure what compelled me to start writing about them, but they worked really well together 😁 (At least I think they do, I haven't written NPCs much so it's kind of like my version of J'yhuh works wells with him LOL)

Yes, I'm following the trail of aether tapestry, soulspun magick, that Zhyk plucks threads of aether when casting spells... it's a 50/50 on if it's going to get described in a weaving sense or a musical sense due to how his pact condition amplifies his senses to aether as a whole.

He also has another "class" he drops into (probability chance at low HP) called Death's Ravening. In essence it's a berserker mode where his voidsent takes over, focusing purely on fangs, claws, and aether attacks with hp regen on each strike. There's a risk he'll attack allies as well! #zhyklore

Zhyk's overall title is Revenant, but also! Tank: Arcane Blade/Skirmisher (WAR/DRK) DPS: Pactbound (RPR) Healer: Selvedge (Homebrew focused on manipulating the injured's aether to staunch wounds, removing corrupted aether, & heavily relying on field medic tech to keep a person from "unraveling")

I can't ever see Zhyk forever retiring from adventuring or being unable to fight/use aether in some capacity. It's something that would break him at his core, leaving him a bitter shell of a person.

Zhyk's restless and uncomfortable, plagued with thoughts of being a burden, that he can't protect himself (or anyone else he cares about), and frets about what this means for his voidpact. It causes so much trouble for him that any progress he's made in his personal growth takes a steep decline.

That's not to say he doesn't enjoy being in town! He's a huge fan of staying in an inn with a reliable roof, guaranteed privacy, a hot bath, and a delicious meal. As a whole, Zhyk is someone who would love to have a place to return and relax after he's spent week(s) on the road and/or adventuring.

Zhyk grew up living with nature so he's definitely at home in the outdoors! He knows the Shroud best as that's where he grew up, but his "adoptive" father lived in Ishgard and from his adolescence on, he traveled across Eorzea so he's well-versed in various climes, flora, & fauna.

Zhyk has several and he's extremely protective of them, each given or belonging to his deceased fiancé, Temur: his engagement ring, his axe, and Temur's sketchbook. Vachir has a well-crafted scarlet and gold rose decorated bookmark that he keeps safe in the most recent tome he's reading.

Vachir's the opposite in that he doesn't suffer any issues when using an aetheryte, can pay the toll easily, and has a stable well of aether to rely on compared to Zhyk. He doesn't mind using them, but at the end of the day he's kind of a homebody and would rather stay home when he's not working!

Usually Zhyk will use them in an emergency, if he's tasked to as part of work, or if he's willing to undergo the consequences to get somewhere far in a short time. Otherwise he'd more keen on traveling by foot, both to avoid bodily complications and to enjoy the trip getting there.

Zhyk can more or less freely use them (if he has the coin ofc), but the drawbacks aren't always worth it. He suffers nausea, headaches, & disorientation/dizziness to varying degrees depending on distance & if Erys has fed recently or not. The problems of basically be on void-powered life support!

Yes :) Personally I think J'yhuh is the stronger of the two, easily capable of handling Zhyk in any position while Zhyk feels more comfortable having something to support them (esp in case his leg injury acts up).

Later when Zhyk finds a spark in his life again, it's something he tries to keep at arm's length. He tries to deter, tries to indicate he's not worth it, tries to show how fractured he is. But they love him anyway. In the end, he's not the one who falls first, but he is the one who acts first.
