Patent colleague jokes, re: Quantum computers, the uncertainty principle, and supercool stuff. -- #quantumcomputers #uncertaintyprinciple #supercooling
On a black background, text reads "9:59 am" followed by 4 rectangular shaped with rounded corners, the 1st dark grey and the others blue. Text in each of the 4 shapes reads as follows:

– 1st –
«So you understand how
Quantum computers work?»

– 2nd –
«I mean, yes.*

* Subject to the uncertainty
principle»

– 3rd –
«There are various models for "why" they work... And as long as the "how" of it doesn't venture too far into that field... [Aside: "It may generally be believed—but without intending to be bound by theory—that..."] It should be ok.»

– 4th –
«You got something "supercool" you're working on over there?»

A captive LLM – foisted onto devices worldwide by some tech giant / sociopath – was recently coaxed into admitting:
On a dark grey background, off-white sans serif text reads:

«The forced push to automate standard tasks like email writing ignores real-world friction. When a tool actively degrades efficiency and complicates basic communication, forcing its adoption is completely counterproductive.

«If the tech industry continues to deploy unskippable user interface traps and uncustomizable features that destroy daily productivity, it could open the door to Major "dark pattern" consumer deception lawsuits.»

Forgot to mention, it has more to do with spacetime and ye olde H. P. Lovecraft quote* than it does D&D or magic ✌️🫠 * Screenshot of quote below:
On a black background, white serif text:
“The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the deadly light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.”

I proclaim, @dndbeyond.com's recent re-drop of Leomund's Lamentable Belaborment—an Unearthed Arcana (1985) spell—was itself, in this time, a self-aware insight or inflammatory statement about a polity nearer than we know. Else, on our intelligence, spend a turn discussing or arguing for or against.
A book is on a table. The book is Official Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 'Unearthed Arcana' (1985) by Gary Gygax. Just received a physical copy of this *absolutely beautiful* book: #MonsterOverhaul by Skerples. Awesome book and #ComposeDreamGames in Canada was super helpful. Kudos. @skerples.bsky.social @coinsandscrolls.blogspot.com.web.brid.gy @joshuakitz.bsky.social composedreamgames.com/marketplace/...
A book entitled The Monster Overhaul - A Practical Bestiary by Skerples is shown. Its cover is largely red and features a red dragon above a grey temple amid blue-purple vegetation. The book sits atop another Skerples book, Magical Industrial Revolution - A Pre-Apocalyptic Setting Guide. The two books cast a shadow towards the top of the image, and sit upon an autumn-colored table cloth.

Here's my self-diagnosed OCD at work 🤣 The bags pictured are supplemental ones I'm using. I saved the other 4 bags, which came with the set, as intended for the PCs cards and tokens (not pictured).
Heroes of the Borderlands box set, showing its included storage tray, with HP tokens in a first bag, and gold and gem tokens in a second. Dice and power tokens are in a first section of the tray, large monster tokens and character standees are in a second section. And, trap and medium size monster tokens are (alphabetically) arranged in a third. A large spider web token is stored above the combat tracking pad.

i gotta admit, the #Daggerheart core book and card set are high quality and quite beautiful. [Check the ALT.] Also, love the maths of two dodecahedrons with binomial distributions. And, it might be nice to hold a character as a hand. Will I play this game? Unlikely. Would I? You bet.
A photograph of a Daggerheart core book and set of cards, along with a Crown Royal dice bag. All, on a coffee table. // The book lies open to pages 146-147 bearing a Pitfalls To Avoid heading within the Core Guidance section of its Chapter 3. // The pages bear two illustrations. One shows two humal (sic) people. A first, with an outstretched hand. The other, surrounded by flames. // The other illustration shows two fungal people. A first, on sedge in bright green, against a starlit mountainous dark purple background. The other, rooted in dark purple, against a bright pink deeply wooded background. Each, carries a staff in one hand. Both, their other arms, respectively, spectrally joining one another across the divide. // The card set is arranged, in six stacks, in a case. The card on the top of each stack bears a smaller illustration. They are Rune Ward, Brace, Words of Discord, Forest Sprites, Unbreakable, and Warden of the Elements mastery. // The bag is purple with gold stitching. // The table is worn wood veneer. // The bag is in the top left quadrant of the photo. The card set in its top right. And, the book in its bottom half.

Reading 'Overloading the Encounter Die' by Brendan of @necropraxis.bsky.social in Knock #5 from the @themerrymushmen.bsky.social… Wherein, a roll of 3 on the encounter die has a suggested "Locality (context-dependent timer)" result. Love this passage 💙 (Check the image ALT.) Kudos.
In a photo of page 39 from the Knock #5, a paragraph reads: «"Locality" is meant to be used for area-specific events that should be kept separate from standard random encounters. Examples: water rising, the stalker drawing nearer, a prisoner losing an appendage to the torturer, doors locking behind PCs, and so forth. The possibilities are limitless and make every location potentially mechanically different in a way that is player-salient.»

Okay, hear me out. A Lord of the Rings remake, but with these two taking the One Ring to Mordor
Nancy Reagan sits, in front of an Xmas tree, on the lap of Mr. T who's wearing a Santa outfit. The then first lady of the US holds a Mr. T doll still in its packaging.

"We believe that, with the centuries, knowledge can be steadily increased and learning advanced, but we do not suppose that the same progress can be achieved in #wisdom. The individual may grow in wisdom. The race does not seem to." – A #Syntopicon: An Index to The Great Ideas (1952; 2e, 1990)
The image shows a paper-colored background, with black text, "THE special character of wisdom among the attainments of the mind shows itself in the things which everyone will agree can be said about wisdom—things which cannot be said about art and science, or knowledge and learning generally. We believe that, with the centuries, knowledge can be steadily increased and learning advanced, but we do not suppose that the same progress can be achieved in wisdom. The individual may grow in wisdom. The race does not seem to."
The image includes a last partial line of text, with its bottom half truncated, that begins a new paragraph. It appears to begin, "In the tradition of the great books, the mod-"
The image was a photograph taken from A Syntopicon: An Index to The Great Ideas (1952; second edition, 1990).
