In the NT, relations between the CLP govt and First Nations communities are falling apart and they weren’t strong in the first place. The govt has ceased listening to experts & evidenced based advice. It’s an administration that is off the leash and only the federal govt can do something about it.

This is a mind blowing public policy failure. This economic impact assessment found the cost of buffel grass’ spread is 60 times its benefits. Yet the NT Minister preempted his own report, locking in its planting and spread based on a minority cattle lobby recommendation. nt.gov.au/__data/asset...

Viv Oldfield, the NTs largest pastoral lease holder, just brought the pastoral lease title for Murranji and owns a drilling company. The NT gov does the bidding of ‘cattle kings’ like we live in a monarchy - they wouldn’t go ahead if this industry actually opposed it. www.abc.net.au/news/rural/2...
