I'm currently reading Wool by Hugh Howey. You'll see I didn't read any 2026 debuts (despite 3 ARCs) this month. I've got a large pile of non-debuts I also need to get through. I am committed to doing reviews of the debuts I read. Reviews for non-debuts depend on my bandwidth.

I enjoyed by Patch Works: Bee Brave. Bee Kind. Bee You. by Craig Conover with Maine Diaz and A Curse For Christmas Past by Morgan Lockhart. I have lots of thoughts and feelings about Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert. Should I do a series on Dune? Let me know in the comments.

"Spoons" and "Arcing" are both short stories with romantic relationships. My novel (that's out with a few publishers) Worlds Divide is another that falls into this category.

Adria Bailton @adriabailton.com · 28/09/2026
Anyway, I have always loved both stories with a Romance and stories with relationships that don't always work out. Both are as realistic as each other, one maybe moreso than the other. I know there are others like me who want all types of relationships in their stories. So I write them!

Adria Bailton @adriabailton.com · 28/09/2026
Probably I should do a carousel or something that explains why I write relationship-focused stories before jumping into romance territory. But who says things need to be done in order?

Adria Bailton @adriabailton.com · 28/09/2026
I was recently going back through the book reviews I've posted this year and got caught on a "not-a-Romance" sub-plot where I mentioned I, too, write romances that aren't Romances.

I love all of the seasons. It's one reason I left an area that was always summer and hotter summer. But, anyway. With the change of season, it's a good time to do some social media clean-up. Do you have social media clean-up seasons?

Adria Bailton @adriabailton.com · 26/09/2026
The change of season from summer into fall was like slamming into a cliff at full force and then falling off. High temperatures dropped 20º. Not just for a day or two. But for the foreseeable future with only a day or two of slightly warmer days. It's lovely! I love seasons.

I had house guests from the 4th to the 19th. I've worked late every night this week, except yesterday when I drove 2 hours each way to attend a class. This morning I slept in until 9am. Actually, my partner and dogs did too. I think I only woke up because he was shocked it was so late.

There is an unrealistic amount of parenting going on in this movie for the time setting. The amount of running around we kids did without parents and no one had any idea where the kids or parents is not properly represented. Did my parents know where I was during a couple major disasters? No.
