I fear I may have stumbled over my next photobook.

Slay the Princess was an incredible demonstration of how you can really mess with a player's mind and expectations. This is an absurdly good price.

Revisiting this set is a kind of ritual. Two people, one behind the lens, and one in front, both shouting at an empty canvas, reminding each other that the situation is only temporary. Eventually things do get better. I pray she remembers that it gets better. In frame: Felix

Dying for the next photography meet so I can combat the anxiety. They’re so much fun once I’m out of my shell.

Trying to finish this set so I can send them to my hosts and collaborators, but I have one of the best and most frustrating problems to have: There’s too much artistic opportunity. In frame: @astridkallsen.bsky.social and @anoushanou.bsky.social

Fun time to remind people that reposting to a page filled with pornography results in a block. I don’t want work I produced to be seen as in the same vain as pornography. I do not want to ever produce pornography. In short, you and I have nothing to discuss.

Take me back to Eden… More with @astridkallsen.bsky.social and @anoushanou.bsky.social from a set I’m titling First Light. It’ll be an interlude for Tethers Vol.4 For a volume chronicling my struggle to create and revelations during the drought, a section for free flowing creativity feels right.

Because I’m high on inspiration and fulfillment, but I’m stuck at work, here’s a thread of a few selections from yesterday, hastily edited on Lightroom Mobile. Featuring @astridkallsen.bsky.social and @anoushanou.bsky.social .

Yesterday was so…. *Full.* Shooting in the morning, working in the evening…it would appear that my body has *limits.* But I wouldn’t change a thing about yesterday. 1000+pictures to upload and cull… Time to get to work. In frame: @astridkallsen.bsky.social and @anoushanou.bsky.social .

Today was an absolute blast. I hate that I don’t have a place to publish most of them… Might bite the bullet and reinstate my website. In frame: @astridkallsen.bsky.social . Thank you so much for organizing this.

@adouglassmedia.bsky.social is one of the most passionate photogs I've ever known since I started stumbling my way through the ATL cosplay community when I first moved here in 2013 looking for my people. Allen is my people and anyone would be lucky to work with him. This is an appreciation post ❤️

I hate how my last post was found by the erotica crowd. Nude imagery is not synonymous with erotic imagery.

I wanted to show a subject who was accustomed to small spaces finding freedom to express in an open emotive playground. @astridkallsen.bsky.social honors me with her interpretation of this moment in Chapter 10’s story and I received it with the gravity it demands. They deserve to be seen.

Hey, quick question. When you saw the inside of my house, why did you mutter "If the Princess lives here, slaying her is probably doing her a favour," under your breath?

Only one person came. One person had a family emergency. The other overslept due to insomnia. I felt defeated. Until we shot for a little bit.

Tried to get a group together for a birthday shoot this weekend but my life has me feeling so defeated… I don’t even know if I wanna do it anymore. Every creative thought I have feels like self flagellation. No creation. No photos. No art. Just work. Don’t think about anything else. Just work.

This one came together out of frustration. I hadn't created anything of note for quite some time, and I told my collaborator I felt stuck. She had her own frustrations. So she came over, we tore the basement apart and we created based on the feeling of being stuck. Forever grateful for this set.

I realize that a lot of what I have to say with this camera involves the extreme terror I feel when I am creatively still.

The first time I tried fine art photography was in 2020, shortly before the outbreak of COVID. I was stuck in the memories of the life my mother built for me. When she died, it all crumbled, and I spent a year not only mourning, but wishing I could go back to that life.

Allen Douglass @adouglassmedia.bsky.social · 26/01/2025

Someone called me the “Fine Art Photographer of #Cosplay” and I held onto that compliment like my life depended on it. I never feel like it. My approach to fine art differs from my approach to #cosplayphotography. And I think that has to do a lot with who I work with and how we approach the goal.
