The guilt almost killed me. Been in adoption trauma therapy for almost 3 yrs. The guilt was what made me reach out for help. Happy to say I'm a much more emotionally healthy person than I was when I started. But there are days when that guilt creeps back in. I will always wish I could do it over.

Unless you're me. I'm the worst cook on the planet! A foreign language would probably be easier for me. 😂

Now that all four of them have passed away, I realize how I cheated myself out of what I needed, and what my birth parents needed as well. I would do it so much differently today. If only I had the chance. That's why I said people should listen to what you wrote. You know what you're talking about.

The reunions actually went well. My parents weren't married to each other either. It was what to do after I met them that was the hard part. All of the parents were still alive, so it was like trying to walk a tightrope of not hurting anybody else's feelings, while totally ignoring my own.

Firstly, that was a beautiful article. Thank you for sharing it. Learn whatever it takes for you to feel more connected to your Homeland. Whether it be language, learning to cook the foods of your country, cultural celebrations, wrap yourself in the things that were taken away from you.

Great advice! Wish you had been around 40 years ago when I had my reunion. I had no one but myself to lean on, no advice, no one to talk to. I can highly recommend your tips to anyone who is heading towards reunion. Honestly, reading this helped me to understand some things all these years later.

Laura, I don't have the answer. Moses Farrow, who is on Blue Sky would have a lot more information. These charts came from him. California has a very large population in general, so you could be on the right track.

🥚 Thanks for passing on the petition. I've signed it. It's something that we can do. I hope to see trafficking via adoption wiped off the face of the Earth. It won't happen in my lifetime, but I can sure work towards it while I'm still breathing.

🥚💔 Another, in a horribly long line of children, who are being murdered. From Foster Care to adoption, it keeps happening. She was 4 ft tall, 45 lbs, at 9 years of age when murdered. Imagine the hell that was her life. I look at her face and I can't help but to start crying. This has to stop.

Agreed! 😉 Hours later, what I realized I really should have written was that it was kidnapping, followed by trafficking via the industry. Imagine if the media were to start telling that truth. If only.

I do realize one equals the other. What I should have said is that the article should have stated that it WAS kidnapping, because that's what it was! If only we could get the rest of the world to start using the correct words.

I know that when it comes to government forms, we are forced to write in the fake parent names. However, when I go to a doctor's office, when those questionnaires start asking about family history, I write 'I don't know - I'm a purchased human being.' Feels good to tell the truth.

🥚 That wasn't 'forced adoption.' That was kidnapping. My blood boils thinking of the people who would do this to others. They judge an unwed mother, believing that she is somehow morally inferior, that she is not capable of raising her own child. The propaganda of religion and of the industry.

🥚 No matter what journey a person may be on/where they may be in that journey, each one of us can take 5 minutes to sign a petition, forward a post, use our single voice, added to other voices, to effect change. Isn't saving the lives of children worth it? (I shouldn't have to ask that question.)

Oh, did this hit home! I put my therapist through six months of chaos. (Or as I like to call it, the six months of hell.) Took me that long to understand it, to see what I was doing. Now I'm able to catch myself a lot faster. Sometimes within minutes. It's hard work being us. 🤪
