My nth time reading Watchmen and I only noticed this bit of foreshadowing now. (It’s the comic back cover.)

Began doodling ideas for the next font because I had a free afternoon. Not too shabby for a day's work, I think. I'm thinking this would work great with 3-4 alternates – organic, bouncy, unpredictable.

Did a pose study of Gil Kane’s Superman in the closest thing I have to what one might call a “style”.

This might be a bit “the golden age of comics was 12”, but damn, nobody draws Superman like Gil Kane, particularly when he’s flying.

Just wrapped up the final script for IN YOUR SKIN. I don't know quite how to feel, but this is the first longform story – the first *book* – I have finished. There's a lot of work left – editing, responding to the art, writing backmatter etc., and of course the lettering – but this part is *done*.
A screenshot of a text editor, with a written paragraph that has been blurred out, and below it, in all capitals, "the end".

This one had me at page one. Just the art would have been enough, but the themes of celebrity, inferiority, and pedestalization are ones I’m already passionate about, and I’m eager to see them further explored […]. And, of course, the lettering is on point.

Here's @denizcamp.bsky.social, speaking on Twitter:
It’s brilliant, risky, sexy, grotesque both in body horror and the disturbing psychology of extreme fandom, it’s filled with beautiful gestures and characters and struggles. It’s like nothing else in comics. – Deniz Camp

Here's @danpg22.bsky.social, writing in his newsletter:
It is grotesque and beautiful; disturbing and sexual. \[…\] The book has shades of David Lynch in how it creates unease, though I pause before I bring up his name. Most art that invokes Lynch is not as thoughtful in its choices as this comic is. – Dan Watters

Here's what Chip Zdarsky said in his newsletter:
A wonderful dive into fandom and horror by way of Bollywood, this first issue is both gorgeous and unsettling. Aditya has been known for years as one of the industry’s greatest letterers and now he’s proving he’s also one of its greatest writers. – Chip Zdarsky

Preorders for IN YOUR SKIN #1 close on Monday March 30th. Here's some of the nice things people have been saying about the book. From the amazing @ashcanpress.com:
In Your Skin feels both tense and comfortably dreamlike somehow, like waking from a nightmare you are desperate to return to. The ethereal art and poetic writing keep drawing you in until it’s too late to look away. This book haunts. – Matthew Rosenberg

Cover D (a 1:25 variant) is by the great @tulalotay.bsky.social. She is one of the finest cover artists in comics, and her cover blends her trademark mix of poise and sensuality with classic Bollywood poster design.

Cover C (a 1:10 variant) is by my friend, collaborator and award-winning artist Anand RK. Anand was the first friend I narrated this story to, and I asked if he’d do a cover if/when this book ended up happening. To my delight, he provided this gorgeous fully painted cover.

Apart from Som, we’ve got a who’s who of amazing comics artists providing our variants. Our Cover B is by @mllovet.bsky.social, one of my favourite artists right now blending horror and erotica.

IN YOUR SKIN is a body horror comic based in Bollywood, emerging from my love-hate relationship with Hindi movies. This is a story I’ve wanted to tell for ages, and I’m excited to do it with an artist whose work I’ve admired for a very long time.

Found it funny that there are THREE comic covers out this week that do this hand thing. Four if you count palm up.
A crocodile, hand outstretched towards the reader. An X-person, hand outstretched towards the reader.Superman, hand outstretched towards the reader.Spawn, hand outstretched towards the reader, palm facing up.

Just finished reading BOY PARTS. I saw this categorised as horror, while my partner found it in crime fiction recommendations. It's neither, it's a literary novel on a disturbing subject. But it's great—grim, funny, uncomfortable and occasionally distressing. Loved it.

I recently bought a copy of Hobson-Jobson (a colonial guide to India for British people from the late 19th century) and it’s got such fun historical tidbits. (“Daam” is now a generic Hindi word for “cost”, while in Bengal, taka is rupee as well as the currency of Bangladesh.)

I'm not sure why, but as a writer, it bothers me when people are impressed by this kind of mirroring/thematic reflection. Writers should this, yes, but it should be seen as a fairly basic technique than something remarkable.

Some of my favourite photos by Sebastião Salgado were those of gold miners, who look like they're shaped out of the same ground they're working under. RIP.

Over the weekend, I attended an analogue photography workshop, learned how to develop my own film, made a contact sheet, learnt how to make test strips, as well as a darkroom print. It was, from start to end, a delightful experience.

Wendell Berry, from “Why Am I Not Going to Buy a Computer”.
which will be a great deal more abundant as soon as it can be done by robots.
This hatred of the body and of the body's life in the natural world, always inherent in the technological revolution (and sometimes explicitly and vengefully so), is of concern to an artist because art, like sexual love, is of the body. Like sexual love, art is of the mind and spirit also, but it is made with the body and it appeals to the 59 senses. To reduce or shortcut the intimacy of the body's involvement in the making of a work of art (that is, of any artifice, anything made by art) inevitably risks reducing the work of art and the art itself. In addition to the reasons I gave previously, which I still believe are good reasons, lam not going to use a computer because I don't want to diminish or distort my bodilybe coming to me from the power structure or the power grid, but from another direction and way entirely. My mind is free to go with my feet.
I know that there are some people, perhaps many, to whom you cannot appeal on behalf of the body. To them, disembodiment is a goal, and they long for the realm of pure mind - or pure machine; the difference is negligible. Their departure from their bodies, obviously, is much to be desired, but the rest of us had better be warned: they are going to cause a lot of dangerous commotion on their way out.
SOME OF MY critics were happy to say that my refusal to use a computer would not do any

Back to toying with this font idea I'd abandoned a couple of years ago, inspired by Tom Orz, and a little bit of Dave McKean, and … I really like how this looks.

ABSOLUTE MARTIAN MANHUNTER is: a) gorgeous, thanks to @javierrodriguez.bsky.social, b) probably the best thing @denizcamp.bsky.social has written yet, c) a formal feast of the kind I've been missing in comics, d) reminiscent of early Vertigo in the best way. I can't wait for everyone to read it.
