Wolverhampton SJ90 13/9 I expected a few more tbh. Highlight was the Gold Triangle, my second and is NFG. Always love a nice Black Rustic. I originally had the moth in the remaining pics as an LBAM but not confident. Homoeosoma or Aethes maybe…? 🤔 #teammoth

Found dead in my trap from the other night. Thought it was a Hawthorn Drab (Paraswammerdamia nebulella) but might it be a White-headed Drab (P. albicapitella)? Seems a little late though? Possibly it could be an old corpse I missed, but I do empty the trap after each session. #teammoth

Difficult to say - there’s been lots of activity all day and the workers can become more aggressive as the colony declines. Bored I reckon, no purpose left other than to cause trouble. Any other time I would have let it be.

Unfortunately we’ve leaks that really need sorting sooner rather than later ahead of the torrents. I don’t like to but we’re getting pest control round. It’s way too close to the work for safety and I’m not going into the loft myself to gently usher them out 😬

Never had so many. I’m guessing there’s a nest pretty close. We similar gatherings at the holiday cottage clustering around the security light for warmth before dispersing for the day.

In fairness they were fairly dopey and I could navigate round them. Oddly they were all in the trap close to the house, my further trap only had 2. One cheeky couple were having LYU for breakfast.

Wolverhampton SJ90. 23/11 (and 200+ Common Wasps…). Apart from the prospect of being stung, no real standouts. That said I’ve not had a dark form BoxTree Moth before, and the Bishop’s Mitre Shield Bug is a new one for the garden. #teammoth

Melplash, Dorset. Being near the end of our holiday I decided not to bother trapping last night. Felt a twinge of regret this morning until I glanced out of the window. My first Convolvulus Hawkmoth plain as day roosting on the parasol! 🤓 #teammoth

I got me a wooden boaty kit, the Mary Rose, for Christmas. Now experiencing both excitement and fear. Too complex? Oh gawd yes, but I enjoy jumping into projects knowing I’ll be seriously challenged. I haven’t time to do a practice piece, I might die before I finish it then I’d be proper salty! 😂

A wonderful 3 mile walk from the cottage up to South Warren Hill was marred by the footpath down to the road being thoroughly overgrown. Too far to turn back so I had at it and cleared about 300 yards of nettles and brambles with me walking stick! Hedgerow samurai! I’m 68 you know…😂🤣😂🤣

For the first time on a holiday I’ve deployed our Bushnell trail cam. There’s a brook feeding the small holding’s ponds along which our host suspects otters might travel to visit. Fingers crossed 🤞. After 3 or 4 days I’ll move them a bit downstream to the confluence of two brooks.

East Harting, W. Sussex. 35/22. A busier Safari trap last night included a very pissed off hornet 🙄 Fortunately it calmed down later. A couple of lifers: Pediasia contaminella (and I think it might be right this time…😬🤞) and Pyrausta purpuralis. Nice to see a couple of Vestals too. #teammoth
