More than 3 million Virginians cast ballots. The people spoke. Your votes mattered then, and they matter now. As a result of the ruling, I am suspending my campaign for Congress. But our fight for fair representation, voting rights, and democracy does not end today. Onward.
Statement that reads: Today, I am suspending my campaign for Congress.

I want to be clear about why: This campaign is ending because the district I launched this campaign to represent no longer exists after the results of a statewide election were effectively nullified by the courts.

More than 3 million Virginians cast ballots in a statewide election. Voters were asked a direct question about congressional representation in the Commonwealth, and they answered. Then, after the people spoke, the outcome of that election was effectively thrown out.

That should alarm every single person who believes in democracy.

I am angry. Not because this court ruling ends my congressional campaign, but because it sends a dangerous message that the voices of voters can be ignored when the outcome is inconvenient to those in power.

We cannot normalize courts erasing the will of the people. We cannot allow democratic participation to be treated like a suggestion. And we cannot pretend that an election with millions of ballots cast can simply be made null and void without consequence.I entered this race because I believed this district represented something important: a chance to build a campaign rooted in working families, overlooked communities, rural voices, and people who are too often left out of the decisions that shape their lives.

That district no longer exists. And because of that, this campaign comes to an end.

But the fight that brought me into this race does not end today.

I will continue fighting for fair representation, voting rights, and a democracy where the people decide their future. I will continue standing with communities across Virginia who deserve to be heard, respected, and represented.

To everyone who supported this campaign, volunteered, signed a petition, offered encouragement, or believed in what we were building: thank you. I am deeply grateful.

This moment is beyond disappointing, but more than that, it is dangerous. And if we care about the future of democracy in Virginia and across this country, we cannot look away. We cannot give up.

The people spoke. Their votes mattered then. And they matter now. The fight for fair representation, voting rights, and democracy does not end today.
We will continue to fight, flip seats, and defend the rights and freedoms that Virginians made clear they will NOT surrender.

Onward.

Disgraceful. Today, four Justices believed they knew better than the people of the Virginia. This decision, of course, came AFTER more than 3 million Virginians cast their ballot.

This is what voter suppression looks like. The Supreme Court just weakened the Voting Rights Act again. That means fewer voices, fewer fair districts, and less representation for communities of color. This isn’t abstract. It's power being taken. We fight back.

I’ve Lived It. I’ll Change It. I’m running for Congress because the people living the challenges should be the ones shaping the solutions. Not the status quo. Not those born into privilege. Us. secure.actblue.com/donate/adele-soc…

I had a great time connecting with @franconiadems.bsky.social this past weekend. So many of us share the same concerns, and as someone who lives close to the realities you all face, I’m ready to take that fight to Congress.

Big energy at the @arlingtondems.bsky.social Blue Victory Dinner! An event I’ve been attending annually for 14 years! It was great to have my baby girl with me last night as Tom Perez fired up the crowd ahead of November!

Today is Election Day — and Virginia has a real choice. Politicians are trying to rewrite the rules to stay in power. Here in Virginia, we’re doing something different — we’re letting voters decide. A YES vote puts power where it belongs — with the people. Make your plan: iwillvote.com/va

Black Maternal Health Week is personal to me, as a legislator and a Mother. In 2025, I returned to session 8 weeks postpartum and still achieved the highest bill passage rate that session. This week is a call to eliminate maternal mortality and demand better care. I’ve Lived It. I’ll Change It.

Great event last night with the Arlington Democrats! The message was clear: people are ready to organize, fight, and step into a new generation of leadership. Arlington is home — and just one of many communities we’re showing up for. We’re just getting started.

Donald Trump is completely unhinged and pushing us toward World War III. We need steady leadership, not reckless threats that put lives at risk. A Republican-led Congress cannot stay silent. They have a duty to act. The 25th Amendment exists for a reason. Use it.

My friend (and former roommate) Adele understands the issue of affordability better than anyone I know. She’d make an excellent Congresswoman. Vote YES before 4/21 and then vote for Adele this summer!

I live the issues in this race. As the only renter, I’ve moved 8 times just to keep up. When I talk affordability, I don't guess. I’m living it. This campaign is about changing the status quo. Not just opposing Trump–building something better. We don’t owe this seat to anyone.

2024 was a year to remember! From completing my first year as a member of the Virginia House of Delegates to becoming a Mom♥️. One of my favorite parts of this year was engaging in my community and talking to constituents and local organizations :) (1/2)
