My interest in ‘major’ new films is embarrassingly limited to maybe one a year perhaps 🤷‍♂️. I think this looks interesting at least… www.imdb.com/title/tt3698...

Does anyone else get to the point in a build where you just think I have so overcomplicated this? I mean I will keep pushing on through but I have seriously lost the mojo with this build…I don’t think cutting my thumb badly helped but I do want it done soon…🤷‍♂️

Went to fill up the car today and saw on the pump opposite a £143 total for someone who’d pumped 70 litres of diesel…interesting times…not…ffs…🤦‍♂️🤯

A bit more paint on a few bits including, and I am hoping this is correct, a deep bronze green for the fire extinguishers…🤔

A week ago I came quite close to removing the top of my left thumb with my modelling knife...I’ve had a few close shaves over the last five years but this was a bad one…it has made me quite nervous about ‘going again’ & is also still painful & holding me up a bit…but we press on…🤷‍♂️🥃

So…this book is very good so far and has inevitably prompted me to order another book based on piqued curiosity…always the way…ho hum #booksky

Not really my thing but this may be of interest to some modellers…I have no idea how accurate the colours would be in a book like this but I imagine they are a better source than anything that’s been ‘colourised’ if this sort of thing is your bag…🤔

Adam Watkinson @adamwatkinson1.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

Does anyone use an ultrasonic modelling blade/knife on a regular basis…they are quite (very) pricey & I’m unsure what their value is tbh apart from perhaps cutting through some delicate 3D print scaffolds…which I have managed with a regular scalpel blade up to now…🤔🤯?

This arrived today and I have never seen a kit quite like it. It may even be a glimpse into the future…who knows…bit it looks both a bit bonkers and exciting…

These PE sand ladders (?) are quite nice and have an extra level of detail over and above the kit parts…I imagine the ‘teeth’ on the edges helped with grip into the sand/earth? Anyway they will definately be going on…I have turned a 3 day build into at least a fortnights work but ho hum…

My recent fight with a large stowage set has put me in mind of this pair from quite a while ago…both lesser versions in terms of quantity at least…sometimes I wonder why I do it…🤷‍♂️🥃

1431

Adam Watkinson @adamwatkinson1.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

Still feels a long way to go with this kit but even though it’s a 50 year old mould there’s not much wrong with it from a construction perspective…it’s the stowage that is just taking an age…

An observation about travel literature. I enjoy all of it but enjoy books about the parts & people of my own country that I don’t know even more than the wondrous tales of foreign lands…even more so if the authors are not from the UK…I’m sort of fascinated by what others make of us I guess #booksky

As much as I like SMS paints I am quite unsure about how I’d effectively deploy this lacquer rust paint set…when painting rust (or wood) I often like to get into the paint with water & my fingers to rub and wear it…that’s not going to work with lacquers…

1100

Adam Watkinson @adamwatkinson1.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

Brilliant…a bit of melancholy loveliness, some nostalgic thoughts of childhood and place but a lot of sense about what the U.K. is today too…10/10…I can’t help myself…if a book can make me sad and joyful several times in the space of 320 pages it deserves top marks…🤷‍♂️ #booksky

A specific paint colour designation I didn’t know about (shocked…erm..not) but apparently used for a lot of early WW2 British soft skin vehicles…thoughts?

Adam Watkinson @adamwatkinson1.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

Whenever I am thinking about using hairspray for chipping or wear these days it’s always the same thought process…a sturdy lacquer undercoat, hairspray and a weak and feeble acrylic top coat…this usually means an SMS lacquer undercoat and a Tamiya acrylic top coat…I have become a creature of habit…🤷‍♂️

2130

Adam Watkinson @adamwatkinson1.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

Makes sense I guess but is it correct…i.e. similar to German tanks at the time…🤔?

Adam Watkinson @adamwatkinson1.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

The instructions for this new kit aren’t on Scalemates yet & I thought someone may be interested enough to want a peek at bits of them. I like the inclusion of photos of the real thing…I’m afraid I spent today watching cricket on the telly so no modelling updates 🏏…wrong coloured ball though…🤷‍♂️

@jaaaagirr.bsky.social do I need a ‘date stamp’ to prove this Italian light tank is as yet not started for the #italiagb ? It’s a new kit that just arrived today along with another new kit…I’ll start the build when I’ve finished my current one….

I had forgotten how much work is needed to sort these stowage sets out…just releasing them from the resin blocks, cleaning them up and getting a base layer of paint on is a bit of work…next is to try and embellish some of the nice detailing in the casts…

Adam Watkinson @adamwatkinson1.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

If there are still folks who don’t own something resembling this then we are not doing our jobs of disseminating modelling information correctly…🤔🍻

I don’t have much of a spares box at all…I have some spare painted buildings simply because I like painting them as much as kits but honestly I rarely keep spares because I know I will rarely use them…what may sound odd is that I view all my finished models as ‘spares‘ for use on potential dioramas😊

I’ve got past 50 pages & will finish it 👍...it’s good. It’s a really nice bit of writing thus far…I don’t wholeheartedly agree with what he has to say about football in the U.K. but do sympathise I suppose…it’s gone to pot is the authors view…mine is less extreme but sympathetic as I say… #booksky

Just to add to my point about 3D prints and how much the commercially available ones have improved. Photo 1 is quite possibly the worst print I have seen and is from maybe 4 years ago…lines galore. Photo 2 is a recent RFM print…zero lines really…I just feel ‘they’ know what they are doing now…🤔

3130

Adam Watkinson @adamwatkinson1.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

When I look at this pile of cast resin and compare it with some of the good 3D printed resin I’ve seen even this year I can see how cast resin is going to perhaps be completely replaced by 3D prints in the next several years…

A much anticipated travel literature book now incoming…I was lucky to visit Japan many times but always for work so didn’t see much of it outside of the cities…I did encounter (not) The Beatles at some point in Tokyo though… #booksky

Adam Watkinson @adamwatkinson1.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

Appreciate it probably shows in my builds but I just cannot abide watching long videos of modellers doing their stuff or even worse, people ‘unboxing’ models in videos…I just don’t get it…I guess I just like to do my own stuff…I think I only have so much personal bandwidth for models really…🤔
