(cw: bugs/insects) Just received my copy of the Hungarian edition of The Works of Vermin by @hironennes.bsky.social. This was one of the best and toughest jobs I've had as a translator in recent years. I really hope I did the book justice, because I loved working on it. 😊 #booksky #mutimitolvasol
My left hand holding up the Hungarian edition of The Works of Vermin by Hiron Ennes. The cover shows a circle that is actually a coiled centipede, with leaves and other nature-like elements. In the background, a bookcase is visible, full of books.

Tördelés (gyakorlás), a szórakozást pedig a rendszerváltás biztosítja. ✨
A wide-format LG monitor on a wooden desk displays a Hungarian-language document, The Count of Monte Cristo, in Adobe InDesign, with several passages highlighted in yellow. The desk is cluttered with everyday items, including a coffee cup, a lip balm, a pencil holder mug and a Mac Mini visible in the background. A keyboard sits in the foreground, and blue curtains are partially visible behind the desk.

One of my new tech edits, the Christmas Stocking pattern by Brianna Leigh is available now on Ravelry: www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib... Latvian braid, short-row heel, and stranded colourwork - it's a perfectly cozy project. 😊 #knitsky #knitweardesign
Red, green, and white Christmas stockings hang on a mantle. They each have a name stitched into their upper sections: one is David, the other is Brianna.

Wikipédia, at its best. :D Forrás: hu.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tims%C3...
A screenshot of the Hungarian Wikipedia page for alum. Two lines discussing a supposed etymology are struck through. Below them is an all-caps warning reading ‘Don’t write bullshit!’ The final line corrects the false etymology.

I've recently edited a wonderful pattern for Christmas stockings, and there's an open call for test knitters right now. ☺️ The due date is 2025-12-02, but it's a flexible deadline. See more info on Yarnpond: www.yarnpond.com/pattern_test... #testknitting #knittingdesign #knitsky
Two colorful Christmas stockings hang on the mantle in front of the fireplace. They are knit with stranded colorwork, and use green, white, and red colors. The stockings have names on them: one is Brianna, the other is David. The motifs on the stockings at the top are reminiscent of hollies, while on the lower parts are similar to snowflakes. The sections of the stockings are separated by Latvian Braids.

I'm making some headway with one of my knitting projects: the sampler pattern from "Knitting Ganseys" by Beth Brown-Reinsel. I'm reading the book for my tech editing certification course at TKGA, and I'm also learning a lot about sweater construction and DPNs. So all in all, it's great fun. ☺️
A work-in-progress sweater sampler lying on a wooden surface. The sampler is knit on wooden double-pointed needles. It has a garter edge and a stockinette body, and the body has the letter A knit with purl stitches on it. A spare needle is resting above the sweater, and above that, a ball of yarn.

Well, I guess that's it. Let me show you the heinous and abhorrent comment for which my account was first suspended, then disabled. I got Meta Verified (ugh, I know) to reach support, and while they seemed helpful people, and I'm sure it wasn't up to them, ultimately it wasn't worth the cost.
The image is of the sign-in page of a disabled Facebook account. The text reads as follows:
We've disabled your account. We've reviewed your account and found that it still doesn't follow our Community Standards on cybersecurity.
You cannot request another review of this decision. To learn more about the reasons why we disable accounts, visit the Community Standards. You may have the right to challenge our decision in your country's courts, or refer our decision to a certified dispute settlement body.
The first button at the bottom is "Download Your Information", and the second is: "Read more about cybersecurity."The image is of a Facebook comment before posting, and it reads:
Hi everyone! I'm Adam, a tech editor, and I would love to work with knitwear designers of all skill levels. I really enjoy patterns with colourwork or textures. (I'm currently working through "Knitting Ganseys" by Beth Brown-Reinsel, and it's brilliant.) As an editor, I'm focusing on accessories, and I'm especially interested in making patterns accessible for beginners. I can help create your charts and schematics as well. Feel free to reach out through Facebook or by email: hello@adamsarpatki.com. Check out my website for more information and testimonials: https://adamsarpatki.com/knitting-technical-editing/

So apparently, anytime I post a comment in the Tech Editor Hub's Facebook group, Meta just decides to suspend my account. Who knew knitting was such a controversial thing 😂

I finally submitted my Lesson One materials for the TKGA Tech Editing Certification Course. 🥳 I spent much more time on them than I wanted to; I could have been more productive, but sometimes things just take time, I guess. ☺️
This is a photo of a desk, with two computers, a large monitor, the Chicago Manual of Style, a tiny sliver of Vogue Knitting, and lots of other stuff, useful for work. The monitor shows two documents open side by side - one is a Word document with tracked changes, and the other is a spreadsheet.

The Daughters' War (the one on the right) by @buehlmeister.bsky.social got published a few days ago in Hungarian, and I'm immensely proud of it as its translator. So dark, and so heart-wrenchingly beautiful. 🖤
Two books standing next to each other. The left is The Blacktongue Thief, and the one on the right is The Daughters' War. Both of them are by Christopher Buehlman but these are the Hungarian translations published by Agave.

I posted my first-ever newsletter issue on my Substack publication, Yarnbound Tales! 🎉 It's about autumn, translations, knitting projects, black holes and grammar pet peeves. I'd be grateful if you'd check it out: yarnboundtales.substack.com 😊
The text reads: "On the cusp of autumn. Yarnbound Tales." The background shows a partially knit infinity cowl with a beautiful stranded colourwork motif.

I have a new little Ficus Shivereana, but the poor thing is struggling. 😔 I don't know if it's overwatering or the environment - gardeners of Bluesky, what do you think? I've written more about this on Reddit: www.reddit.com/r/houseplant... Any help is appreciated! 🌱🍂 #GardeningFeed #Houseplant

Happy Halloween, I guess. 🧹🎃🐈⚰️ I created this in Blender, and it took me about a week to put it together. I've followed some of Grant Abbitt's tutorials, but Ryan King's procedural stone video was a great help as well. 😊
A spooky Halloween scene made in Blender with menacing pumpkins, candles, graves, twisted trees, and a black cat in front of the full moon.

I'm having a productive weekend: between playing Spider-Man 2, I've been practicing Blender with some online tutorials by Grant Abbitt. Not too shabby, if I might say so.

Hi everyone! I'm Adam, a literary translator/editor. You might know me as the Hungarian translator of the Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson, but I've also worked on books by Jenn Lyons, Scott Lynch, and Christopher Buehlman among many others. 😊 I also love knitting, TTRPGs, and drawing maps. 😎
A fantasy map of an idyllic place between the mountains with lots of trees and two lakes. An absolutely massive fantasy continent map with tons of locations. The title in the bottom left reads "The land of Gorlassar and its surroundings".A fantasy city map, heavily inspired by Venice, Italy. The title in the top right corner reads "Scallyburg".
