Ahhhh - so the flag is because of breaking changes? Surprised you didn’t go with something like foo.+remote.js or whatever, since y’all already lean on those characters

Adam Rackis @adamrackis.bsky.social · 02/07/2026
Yep yep - this was a broken Svelte config combined with missing error reporting on Svelte’s side

Adam Rackis @adamrackis.bsky.social · 02/07/2026
Gotcha - so something something … not having remote functions properly enabled caused that RF code in wrongly run in the browser? Is that roughly it?

Adam Rackis @adamrackis.bsky.social · 02/07/2026
And since SvelteKit appeared to recognize and allow my remote function call, and only error’d out on something that appeared quite obviously to be a CloudFlare issue (no ALS!!!) I just assumed it was a bug in the plugin Thanks for looking! 👊

Adam Rackis @adamrackis.bsky.social · 02/07/2026
Ahhh here was the disconnect. The docs show this for settings (on a plane without WiFi awaiting takeoff) Something about the Cloudflare usage forced me away from svelte.config.ts so I needed to integrate that into vite.config.ts. kit is an invalid field - didn’t realize the fix, and since 1/

Fair but ALS errors can’t be happening on the client right? That’s all I’m saying…
100
Adam Rackis @adamrackis.bsky.social · 02/07/2026
I could have sworn I did … lemme check (also I assumed the browser was just forwarding the error from the server - ALS doesn’t exist in the browser right??)

Introduction to Cloudflare Workers for Web Apps
Maybe you don't need a traditional server to run a web app that needs a node server backend. Maybe the requests that need that can go to a cloud function on demand.

Adam Rackis @adamrackis.bsky.social · 02/07/2026
Couldn’t be lower priority - glad to hear though. Hopefully it’s just something missing in Wrangler 🚀

Adam Rackis @adamrackis.bsky.social · 02/07/2026
obv no chance that's true - with how readily this fails I'd just assumed it was a known incompatibility with Cloudflare - figured it was on your roadmap to releasing them - but if you didn't even know about it that makes me hopeful it's just a small bug with the CF plugin ...

My first attempts called the remote function in loaders and it blew up during SSR. AI thought it was some restriction in SvelteKit or something (this was 10 days ago memory a bit hazy). The most recent theory was that my cloudflare environment had a race condition on loading node_compat? 🤨

Is this still where the cool Svelte kids hang out? I tried Svelte Remote Functions with Cloudflare workers about a week and a half ago - they failed pretty abruptly and consistently. Is this a known issue?

React Server Components in TanStack
RSCs in TanStack Start are server-only executed code — perhaps a significant improvement over the Next.js implementation.

It's worse than that. Imagine useFoo has 12 generic arguments, the details of which you have no clue, and don't want to know. They're usually just inferred from runtime arguments, so being able to get the type against actual code would be WAAAAY nicer.

Imagine if you could do typeof, but with actual code, but code that doesn’t execute. So in react do type HookResult = decltype useFoo(); But useFoo() doesn’t actually execute. TS just pretends it did, and notes the return type.
