New story out this week for Public Domain & HCN on DOI's project to expedite drilling activity across Alaska's North Slope. The dept will be issuing a categorical exclusion that exempts most winter drilling activity from enviro review & releasing a new rule that does same for production sites.

AIS Infrastructure (ais-infrastructurellc.com), the company responsible for damaging the archaeological site in Cabeza, has scrubbed the announcement for the DHS contract from its website. The $2 billion award had been prominently featured as a major generator of new jobs. Copy below on left.

In 2022 I did a story on impacts of border wall construction on the Sonoran Desert, much of which focused on activity in Cabeza Prieta Nat'l Wildlife Refuge. Would not be the first time the CIA has targeted dissidents in the U.S. In fact one of the hallmarks of the post-9/11 era has been the erosion of safeguards put in place to prevent intel agencies, including the FBI, from engaging in this kind of activity.

One of the FBI agents present in the courtroom for closing args during the Prairieland trial was investigated in 2017 after a night of debauchery. He brought a woman back to his hotel room & had his Rolex, Glock, & $60 stolen. I FOIA’d the internal investigation & the FBI has denied my request. 1/

First report from Alaska DEC regarding the Doyon rig accident. Evidence of a diesel spill has been confirmed--approx 4,000 gallons were on board--some 500 feet from a tributary of the Colville River & in critical habitat for polar bears, caribou, arctic fox, ptarmigan, & muskox.

If I was based in Alaska I'd be on the next flight to Nuiqsut. ConocoPhillips, the North Slope Borough, & BLM under Trump will do everything they can to suppress information about the drilling rig accident that took place on Friday. Same thing happened with the gas leak in 2022.

Another serious ConocoPhillips accident on Alaska’s North Slope, not far from the village of Nuiqsut. In 2022 the company had a major gas leak at its Alpine field, which required the evacuation of 400 workers. www.adn.com/business-eco...

I traveled to Greenland in 2023 and found the people to be very open to partnering with the US on trade, security, minerals etc. The US had been very effective in using soft power to achieve its goals. In a single year, the Trump admin has completely blown up whatever goodwill there was.
