A last-minute addition to my September reading, and I am so glad I made the time for SISTAH SAMURAI: A CHAMPLOO NOVELLA. @obeytheauthor.bsky.social has a new fan in me. This book perfectly balances action, humor, and trauma in a way that works so incredibly well. #BookSky

"Sistah Samurai is a delightful and fun novella. It blends action and humor with a surprisingly captivating tale about reconciling with one's past and regrets."

I absolutely loved T.R. Napper's latest novel, THE ESCHER MAN. It's a bloody cyberpunk thriller, but it's also quite introspective. The deadliest weapon isn't a crazy flamethrower mod or a high-tech gun: it's memory. Full review: fanfiaddict.com/review-the-e...

Book recommendation: THE ESCHER MAN by TR Napper: "A violent story, though beneath that bloody exterior is a thoughtful narrative that is deeply concerned with technology's impact on memory." Full review on FanFiAddict.

BURNING CHROME is Gibson's short story collection with characters trying to earn a living, make a name for themselves, or find connection. It's a cool collection, with a lot of neat ideas, and absolutely worth a read if you enjoy sci-fi classics or want to see the origins of this genre.

Adam recommends BURNING CHROME by William Gibson: Forty years later, and Gibson's short stories hold up well. While not every one worked for me, it was absolutely a worthwhile read.

Yeah, I'm not saying it's not worth posting here, I'm just saying that it presents a very unique challenge that I don't think I can solve considering I have to be at work about 9 hours most days. And need to spend time writing too. Glad to hear you've found some reads here though!

In addition, most people follow me because I was on some list that they followed. They have no idea who I am or even why they followed me and so there's no connection there. If they see me post at all, my guess is that they're ignoring it because I don't know who I am.

Adam Bassett @adamcbassett.com · 12/09/2026

I love this but as someone trying to market their books on a few platforms I find BlueSky the most difficult to work with. The fact that most people see posts in order of when they were posted means after a few minutes mine is just gone. I'm not online enough to post the way BS seems to want.

There are so many small ways that you can make your book's setting feel a little more alive—what are your favorites? I find that a lot of worldbuilding happens in the details: a brief mentioned of some historical event, or remarking upon how something got to the main character.
