Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 14hI was going to say how the backdrop reminded me of Star Trek's Encounter at Farpoint... but given Mr. Testosterone over here, this is more appropriate: 040
Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 04/10/2026One of the most perfect plays I’ve ever made. Flashed a 1/1 in right before my turn, then on my play loaded him with 2 enchants + card actions, then got a double strike. Turned into an 11/11 monster. Instant win, literally. Things like this feel like they rarely happen to me... 010
Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 02/10/2026I don’t know how many times I’ve watched all The Matrix movies. A lot? And I never noticed this until now. In Reloaded, the Oracle’s candy she gave Neo and took herself is a RED PILL. 120
Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 30/09/2026My own, probably blasphemous, version of red curry chicken. Yummmm. 0111
Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 23/09/2026So Crusader Kings 3 is *very* playable via Linux+Browser over wifi. It's not as responsive as if sitting on the desktop, but it's not at that annoying/an-issue level. This just seems weird though. Cognitive dissonance running like this. 000
Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 23/09/2026With GPU enabled, getting ~60fps with MTGA. Notably this isn't exactly graphics intensive, and I have settings way down. There is some occasional stutter happening somewhere along the pipeline that's not showing up in latency measurements, so that's weird. Good enough to play, easily. 100
Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 23/09/202613 fps on MTG:A's loading screen. Time for some GPU configuration... 100
Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 23/09/2026So far so good... Sign in works with the QR code + iOS app (as it should). 100
Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 22/09/2026[Werner Herzog voice] Each day the celestial alignment of cat-cat-dog takes place. It signals the consumption of the evening’s dinner. Soon chaos will erupt, a cacophony of talk only understood by the mighty beasts. 090
Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 06/09/2026I'm doing a strict F2P account on MTG Arena so I can practice my drafting once or twice a week. With the fresh account and using the wildcards available from the start, I've made this tribal cats deck... and it's winning in the mid 60% for some reason? I mean, cool, okay. But I don't get it. 240
Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 01/09/2026Today is back to school, yay! I’d like to thank whomever designed the single best parenting app ever. 090
Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 26/08/2026I found this image (copypaste everything fml) on Facebook via Google. But it’s good info! Star Trek: Picard s2 & 3 LCARS colors. 020
Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 26/08/2026I am stupidly happy with my home lab setup... Been using this setup daily for months now and it's an absolute win. Well worth the time and effort it took to set it all up. 170
Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 21/08/2026Tonight was a rare night out by ourselves for Katie and I. Sushi and drinks, outside at Wakame (our favorite sushi joint in Minneapolis). We celebrated 14-years married together. Seems ... wow. We're old? But it's cool, too. 2150
Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 06/08/2026I’m going to read into this way too much and choose insane conspiracy theory (again). This is just another subtle hint we’ve gotten lately that Doctor Who and Star Trek share a universe. “a Doctor” — the in-universe term is “Medical Officer”, using Doctor as a class is borderline non-canon. 270
Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 31/07/2026First episode of Bourdain's No Reservations: Anytime you hear the word "purity" come up too often in conversation, the sound of jackboots can't be far behind. Just... wow. We had to pause it for a minute just to let the sheer weight of that prescience sink in. 070

Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 26/07/2026Alright... new King of the Hill has a Jurassic Bark episode. Going to get it out of the way. Let's do it. After? Weed. 130
Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 25/07/2026Yay! Email and self-hosted push notifications working from my homelab to the public internet. The notification setup was an oddly complex task at the end of the day. Troubleshooting isn’t straightforward. 150
Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 24/07/2026On the verge of switching to nvim... I *really* like VS Code, especially my ability to modify it exactly. But nvim feels more, pure? I was a vim/emacs kid in college, so this is a return to form in a way. neovim + tmux + repo with my dot files is a really great multi-system setup. 250

Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 16/07/2026The air in Minneapolis smells like forest fire too. Ugh. 030
Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 01/07/2026Been trying out Claude more, and it's interesting in that this is the "right" answer, but is also the most obvious that anyone who has done linux setup with xdotool would know where to go instantly. Again, AI is just parroting "jr engineer" -- which isn't bad, but it's not revolutionary. 100
Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 30/06/2026This link to a safe online tool to verify information you probably only do a couple times a year, if that, is really great. Wonderful use of good dev tech best practices. 000
Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 16/06/2026Got to be in the presence of a rosary that belonged to Jim Lovell that was with him on Apollo 13. It’s in the private (and well cared for) collection in an upstate NY convent. Really cool just to sit and look at it. History at my fingertips. The kids had no idea why a few grownups were in awe. 170

Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 07/06/2026Being able to consistently play Progenitus is all kinds of fun for me. A known card, but rarely used/seen. It's fun to play it! I'm also ~55% win rate on the deck now after some learnings. Just miiiiight try to hit mythic this month. 020

Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 28/05/2026I love that this works. Mac OS 9.2 on a 23-year old Mac PPC connected via ssh to a modern Linux desktop, editing code I’m actively working on every day. And it’s responsive. This feels like it shouldn’t work. But does. 6280
Adam Holisky @adam.holisky.com · 22/05/2026Time to learn a new MTG deck... Haven't ever played a 4-color standard before, always been a bit intimidated. Might just be because "back in the day" they were impossible to play well (imo). 120
