This is Tools (v005), a virtual sculpture - a 3d scan of an assembly of various objects that one way or another connect to my art studio. The merged mesh is a way for my digital practice to connect to the ‘history of things’ (Kubler, 1962). Read more here: objkt.com/tokens/KT1Hg... #prehistory

Hi all! For a new art project, I am looking for research and specialists on the domestication(s) of wolves (becoming dogs). Any anthropologists/archaeologists out there that I can connect to (and pick their brains 😀)? It will become a (digitally animated) video installation.

Some bronze age stops in our Sweden road trip up north: drawings that were ‘in use’ between 6,000 and 1,000 years ago - near the magnificent Flatruet (broken arrow points nearby suggest the drawings were shot at), and a beautiful stone ship (apprx. 4,000 years old) near Strömstad.

Cancelled OpenAI subscription today. I explored it as an aid for my thesis for a year, but over the last six months it became increasingly difficult to work with: sometimes it was excellent, but often it just went off rail. & You don’t want that level of unpredictability in your military, right?

One of the main issues with the lack of environmental action is caused by too many people in this region thinking that pollution and waste are developing countries’ problems, simply because our cities, gardens and highways look ‘clean’. Air quality in Antwerp today and yesterday: “horrible”.

Since September 2019, most - if not all - of my practice takes place in the context of artistic doctoral research. I feel my work has become much more layered because of that. However, at the writing stage, I keep running into problems of unclear expectations, making me doubt the entire concept.
Claire Bishop for ArtForum: Information Overload. On the Superabundance of research-based art. An overview of three (or four) phases of artistic research, and their particular issues. 2023. Florian Cramer & Nienke Terpsma for Open! What is Wrong with the Vienna Declaration on Artistic Research? The authors note that in this text, artists are suspiciously absent. The Declaration is an influential guideline for Schools of Art across Europe. But what kind of ‘art’ and ‘artist’ is it advocating for? This pdf comes from the Research Catalogue platform. In some cases it looks like artistic research is its own worse enemy. From the website of the Journal for Artistic Research. Despite its title, I read it mostly as points of critique – although that is of course the lens I am looking at the field at the moment.

Sharing Rebecca Solnit’s frustration - while she’s referring largely to the shocking situation in the US, this also counts for people here in the EU when it comes to the inertia in tackling the real issues: climatological and ecosystem collapse (as opposed to blaming migration for everything).
