Let’s be clear: Power belongs to the people. Floridians joined voices across the nation to protest the Trump administration’s abuse of power. With our committed legal observers and fearless organizers on the ground, we stood with communities — demanding justice.

Today’s hearing on ICE’s attempt to stall discovery was procedural, but every step matters. We remain committed to holding ICE and Baker County officials accountable for the abuse Guillermo Serrabi endured in solitary confinement.

Every community deserves spaces of remembrance, dignity, and love. Full stop. Taxpayer dollars were used to erase the crosswalk at Pulse — a memorial to the 49 lives stolen and a symbol of resilience. Instead of honoring communities, the state is silencing them.

Check out our Florida “Know Your Protest Rights” facts:
KNOW YOUR RIGHTS
KNOW YOUR PROTEST RIGHTS
1. You don't need a permit to protest on sidewalks if you're not obstructing traffic or access to buildings.
2. In Florida, you can record the police as long as you are not interfering with police activity. Make sure to stay at least 25 feet away from police upon request.
3. If you get stopped by police, ask if you're free to go. If they say yes, calmly walk away.
If they say no, you may be required to provide your name.
ACLU FLKNOW YOUR RIGHTS
KNOW YOUR PROTEST RIGHTS
4. If you get arrested, you have the right to ask why. Otherwise, say you wish to remain silent and ask for a lawyer immediately.
Don't sign, say, or agree to anything without a lawyer present.
5. If you get stopped by any law enforcement at a protest, you have the right to remain silent or tell them that you'll only answer questions in the presence of an attorney - no matter your citizenship or immigration status.
6. Police cannot search your phone without a warrant.

Today, our attorneys, clients, and partners appeared in federal court as a judge considers sanctions against FL Attorney General Uthmeier for issuing a misleading letter to law enforcement — falsely suggesting that SB 4-C could still be enforced despite a federal injunction.

MALCOLM X. THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF MALCOLM X AS TOLD TO ALEX HALEY. Today, we remember Malcolm X on what would've been his 100th birthday, and pledge to continue his fight against oppression and inequality in America. Did you know a Florida public library once banned his autobiography for "anti-white racism?" We will always fight for our right to learn. ACLUFL

The crafters of the Constitution, and for nearly 250 years we have, delegated immigration authority to the federal government under the Constitution’s Supremacy Clause. Doing anything other than following the original text of the Founding Fathers is inherently unconstitutional.
