I know one for certain. 3-5 others I have MAYBE heard of, but I could be lying to myself about that, too.

If you used trinket.io to teach HTML or Python coding - tomorrow is the last day you can download your code before it shuts down. There are alternative open source trinket services you can upload it to if you want to. I must remember to remind my students.

It’s not about fairness. My guess is that it is a way to funnel as much $$$ as possible to Trump allies outside of academia. Some university researchers will be a part of the bigger project, for good reasons, but the point will be to direct as much as possible to the chosen few. I hope I’m wrong.

Over a billion dollars just... being held in mystery purgatory. These are the places where we lose, the quiet throttling of funding that is undermining research and education across the country. And the opacity and lack of communication means it's incredibly difficult to plan in any meaningful way

Band kid here. Brass are def in the resistance. Trombones are all anarchists and are actively recruiting. French horns are probably handing out water at rallies. Trumpets got caught up while one upping their bros but they’re here now so might as well lead a chant. Tubas are the masterminds.

The average U.S. physics PhD takes 6+ years. DHS's new rule replaces open-ended "duration of status" for int'l students with maximum fixed 4-year admission periods. What happens in between? American Institute of Physics is breaking it down Aug 12 at 12 PM EDT: bit.ly/454knmF

As for me, I've realized that when I allow myself to be entertained by thrilling spy chases, battling superheroes, and touching romantic comedies, I am only marking time. I am waiting, often years, for an intelligent science fiction movie to come along. Praying for a film like PROJECT HAIL MARY.
