Hello, fellow Albertans: this is such a handy guide to the reporting CBC has done on all *ten* referendum questions, all compiled in one place by @joeldryden.bsky.social and Rukhsar Ali. Danielle Smith shared a wildly inaccurate claim on federally appointed judges’ Liberal ties. But that also raised the question: what about the judges UCP gov’t picks for Alberta. My deep dive: www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

ANALYSIS | Danielle Smith says court 'skewed' to Liberal donors, but UCP picks have political ties just as often | CBC News
CBC analysis suggests about one-fifth of federally named judges match with Liberal donor lists. About as many judges picked by the province likely gave to UCP.

I tallied the number of court cases or legal challenges Alberta’s government has recently stepped in to block or pre-empt. Was surprised how long the exercise took - they’re at like a one-per-week clip: www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

From transgender policies to referendums to "conservative" party names, the Alberta UCP has stepped in where others have feared to tread.

With 868 measles cases so far this year, Alberta has now exceeded its previous high mark set in 1986. 2025 now has the most cases since 1979. So I've had to expand this chart to include years prior to the modern-vaccine-program era:
