Mustang’s Story Part 1. Mustang was born in my mother’s garage along with her five feral sisters (who were the mothers of my banner kitties.) When she was 6-8 weeks old, she unknowingly crawled under the hood of my brother’s car. She fell out as he was driving down the street, but appeared unharmed, so he put her back in the garage next to the ferals’ food and water. She promptly disappeared.

When I finally found her hours later, she did appear to be in distress, so off to the animal hospital we went. Four days, and $$$$ dollars later, I had a new kitten. This photo is the day I brought her home. Oh… and I named her Mustang after the make of my brother’s car!

Mustang’s Story Part 2. It shortly became apparent that her growth rate was stunted. There was no way to tell if this was from the fall or a genetic condition. But she was still playful and active and the other cats loved her to pieces and loved playing and cuddling with her. In this photo she’s about 2-years-old and at her full size. She’s with Sunfire, who is actually her nephew.

And THAT is how Sunfire got HIS name. He’s named after the car I used to have (Pontiac Sunfire.) As Paul Harvey would say: “And now you know… the rest of the story.”
