It sounds rubbish and I’m sorry coz your written word brings so much joy. I’ll also own up that I really don’t like weird smells and vomity stuff so I didn’t buy your new book after the extract but I might make a gift of it to someone who has a stronger stomach than me 💕 Keep going & don’t give up

Medical/GP dilemma; if first two patients are telephone consults, neither answers phone despite multiple attempts; nil scary on triage notes How to manage…? 1) text and ask them to rebook 2) keep trying (then associated question of when to stop) I 💕 telephone triage but this is where it falls apart

It’s so frustrating. Not that anyone cares what I think, but if you want to be English or British then that’s perfectly fine. God I hope that the other nations don’t start this nonsense. Wales, Scotland and NI seem much more sorted (who’d’ve thought it?)

Boringly, it’s because lots of work was done in advance to minimise the potential impact of Y2K It’s a bit like the thankless task of public health - no one ever notices the good hard work that stops the bad thing from happening…

Bloody love a Barbour coat. And thanks for the reminder, my brown one (which has been round the world with me) needs cleaning and repairing…. 💕
Selfie of me in the pouring rain at a bus stop, wearing a classic brown brimmed rain hat and a a much loved green Barbour coat. Toasty warm

Can the whole of the South Hams join the EU? We don’t even care if the bbc forgets to mention it, I reckon. It’s not like anyone pays us much attention anyway

I’m so sorry about your Mum. And I agree. I suspect that this was the “wrong” bill due to some details, but I don’t think it’ll come through in a properly government sponsored bill, so we’re stuck. It’s genuinely heartbreaking.

I know nothing about gallons coz I was a baby when the UK went metric. I’ve always viewed the imperial system as just incredibly complicated. So I googled Ok so a US gallon is less than an Imperial gallon? Did it shrink whilst travelling across the Atlantic or something? 🤯

First look at this chart and I thought “Gosh it feels a bit unfair to pick out Berkshire’s county town as being bottom; I bet the teenagers there are quite bright really?”

Tbf tho, I’ve seen plenty of patients who are brilliant, engaged centenarians who care passionately about the future- and have lived 35+ years after their retirement It’s not getting old that makes people r wing. It’s a whole bundle of other stuff In quiet moments I think it’s a trauma reaction

Isn’t it wonderfully bonkers that we didn’t recognise circulation as a thing once upon a time. But also isn’t it fascinating that we have the arrogance to think we know everything now? What will the next 400 year show? 🥰

With all respect to the BBC, the reason this story "matters" is not about whether it distracts from Reform's conference. It "matters" because it is important our leaders are not conspiring to break the law.

Having a group of women doctors who have also been brave enough to open up about their own experiences and not just “power through” has made a dramatic difference here in the UK It changes the narrative significantly and allows us a better lens through which to understand & offer compassionate care

What is far more fascinating is that soo many Tory MPs jumped ship to Reform Such an unwise move

The focus always seems to be on the north/south divide, but actually my experience of much of the north is that it’s better connected and in places feels far more affluent than most of the SW past Bath/Bristol. We somehow get forgotten in the national discussion

South/south west divide Travelling round London it’s hard to imagine the almost complete dearth of public transport in rural devon. My village is served by one bus a week to the nearest market town, for, erm, market? You can stay 2 hours then come home. That’s it. Nothing else…

Possibly. Equally Binface does provide a different lens by which to view politics in the current era. I don’t think that’s a bad thing.

I try very hard not to do that look during consultations, but I have done when faced with M&S advertising for eating “picky bits” on the way home after a busy gp clinic. 🫣

I hadn’t twigged that was a route. It’s mad that where we live was better served by public transport 65 years ago than it is today.
