"Flock cameras are just one part of a vast ecosystem," @lastweektonight.com's John Oliver warned his audience last night. "Check out resources like the EFF's Atlas of Surveillance, which catalogs each of the technologies used in your area." www.atlasofsurveillance.org/

The KIDS Act will effectively create a new mass surveillance system, EFF’s @irmck.bsky.social wrote for @coindesk.com. Your current online usage is not necessarily linked to your specific identity; if this bill passes, that will likely change.

The KIDS Act is way worse than digital carding — it is a mass surveillance system
The fact that lawmakers are even contemplating a bill that would create a surveillance and censorship regime should be a wake-up call for everyone who values privacy and free expression, argues Electr...

Your local police department might be using Flock Safety’s automated license plate readers to inform ICE of the location of immigrants that they have identified as an “Immigration Violator” in your city. www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...

Are Your Local Police Using Flock Safety ALPRs to Scan for Immigrants?
When a car passes an automated license plate reader (ALPR), its plate is captured and instantly compared against a list of vehicles that police are actively looking for or that police have identified

Want a security starter pack?
Start from the beginning with a selection of simple steps. Surveillance impacts all of us, no matter where we live or what we do. While some of us might be directly affected, others may simply want to know what measures they can take to protect their communications and data from...

A federal court has declared that warrantless searches of US person’s communications collected for national security purposes is unconstitutional. Now it’s our job to make sure Congress knows that when they renew this law in a little over a year.
