Both drivers should spend the remainder of their life in jail, but sadly the Crown probably won't do much of anything and they will both be allowed to threaten the safety of random, innocent, people again. www.edmontonpolice.ca/News/MediaRe...

"Edmonton, for some reason, is more affordable." The reason is infill. Edmonton and Calgary were not that different in housing prices. We allowed desnification, they rejected it.

The city is literally falling apart and these conservatives, with their outdated ideas, want to keep building their pet projects! Can you believe they want to spend our tax money on roads when driving is literally causing climate change that destroys our communities?

You have to go into the table of projects, scroll to the newer ones, and there are now attachments. No idea when they were added, and many of the 2024 and 2025 projects don't have them. Maybe not the most intuitive location & many of the attachments are the same across a lot of projects.

It does seem that Nenshi's general unlikeability is part of it:

It's kind of funny that they have added FAQs where they get to choose the questions they platform, and they still don't bother to address the question:

I just want to say that $318/mo to access all that the city offers is one heck of a deal. You don't get anywhere near the value from your income taxes as you do from your property taxes. Nearly everything we all rely on daily is managed by the city, all for about $10 a day.

If there ever was a space that should be pedestrianized year-round, it's 104 Street. Sign the petition and help revitalize downtown: c.org/hj2QPp696q #yeg #yegdt
A picture of 104 Street full of people because it is closed to cars.

Oh, I see. At some point, Edmonton changed the official la classification of Shared Streets and started pretending they were Local Street Bikeways, which are considered high comfort even though shared streets absolutely are not. This study should be retracted for garbage quality control. #yegbike

I learned today from a driver that if someone else is breaking a law, it's ok to break that law. #themoreyouknow 3 drivers, managing to block a bike lane, while parking on the sidewalk, and also angle parking in a parallel only zone.
3 drivers illegally blocking the travelled way (and sidewalk) with their SUVs. License plates BLS-7943, SWS-140, and BPH-1736.

So, the Heritage Valley Library is about to open. The City is also building an LRT nearby. Are they close, in a way that allows people outside of cars to easily use LRT to access the library? It's not terrible, but driving is by far the easiest and that's why we are failing at City Plan goals.

In fact, this intersection was 'upgraded' in 2019 as part of 'Vision Zero'. gis.edmonton.ca/portal/apps/... Choosing a sign instead of a proper marked crossing is a policy failure.

I think this is the first traffic fatality of the year: www.ctvnews.ca/edmonton/art... It happened here:

Warming temps means all that packed snow has turned to mush which is challenging to bike through. The one route that was sort of cleared was the 121 St MUP. Not full width & not to pavement but it wasn't too bad to ride, though there wouldn't have been room for two bikes to pass each other.

My experience is that it seems admin has the week off so they've decided that must be the case for everyone else too. Nothing was cleared for me today, not even the bus routes and residential collectors that should have been done by Sunday morning. #yegsnowstories

It's 16 miunutes from the middle of Castle Downs, and 11 by car. Hardly undoable.

Remember when this happened? edmontonjournal.com/news/local-n... Well, as #yegcc mulls pulling back on the highly successful zoning bylaw reforms, the city just won an award for how successful its been:
Edmonton wins award from the Canadian institute of planners for their zoning bylaw renewal as a national leader of housing diversity.

And 106 Ave, from 131 street to 121 street. If the city cleared this residential road like twice a year it would be a lot easier to travel the 'bike lane' (again, lol) all year round. Even in the summer this corner is dangerous. @andrewknack.bsky.social
131 street and 106 avenue "bike lanes".
