I've been utilizing a rearrangeable notebook and erasable tape highlighter to plot/edit lately, and I'm LOVING it. I wrote up the process with a some good photos here (free): www.patreon.com/AbrianC/post...

Plus, I'm the only graphic novelist in the group. Making the comic page is like 90% of the layout process. I'm gonna pay someone to hit "Export PDF"? I don't think so 😂

Chatting book layout at a local self-publishing workshop and someone said to me, "so you like to do everything yourself, hm?" Madam. There is no one else to do it!

As someone who is also taking woefully forever as my comic can only be worked on part time, I empathize. But as a reader of all DD, I genuinely don't care how long it takes you to finish! Keep on keepin' on.

Mere HOURS later and there's already an official Goodbye, Lara tribute video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=phup... <-- Watch out, massive spoilers Yes the visuals are stunning, but we don't get to see the exploration of non-romantic love NEARLY ENOUGH.

Goodbye Lara has stuck the landing, I repeat LANDING IS STUCK! COME, my brethren, to the streets, and let the rejoicing COMMENCE! Actually the Very end is completely unexpected, but I respect the choice.

I solemnly pledge to actually post some art on BlueSky again BUT one last gripe: What's happening with YouTube mobile that each video looks like dark mode until I scroll down? Trying to be cinematic? No thank you.

I just described Precure as Utena meets Pokemon. I am both correct and ashamed.

I've tried a couple overhead setup that work fine EXCEPT that, for the best shots, the camera is on the line where my head should be, so kind of no matter what, I'm working at a greater distance from the work than usual, just to keep my head out of the way. It's a pain.

Abrian Curington @abrian.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

I'm sure it's just that I already know what happens, so I'm a bit impatient. I think I'll save it for another time. On the other hand, I was not impressed by the CGness of Girls Band Cry's trailers, but find myself wanting to see what happens! This has been an installment of Crunchyroll Free Trial

Perhaps it's because I've read the entire series to date in comic form, but I'm shocked to realize that I don't find the Witch Hat Atelier show to be all that compelling? I actually skipped ahead to the climax in the first episode. Which is a shame since it's gorgeous, with great acting and music!

Great reply, though I find the question itself to be a bit odd, since this has only even been a option for like... A year? What has the person done all the time before last year??

Controversial opinion: Hen of the woods/ Maitake is just too strong a flavor. I can't put them in anything or the whole meal will just taste like that. It's the Worcestershire sauce of mushrooms.

Now who is it that would refund my money if I'd paid on my "estimated cost"? Where would that money have gone?

000

Abrian Curington @abrian.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

Medical heads up! I've started being told my "estimate" for a visit when I check in and ask to be billed later. 100% of the time, the estimate is at least double my bill. I was estimated around $3,000 for a recent MRI. I received a $0 statement. Because that's what my insurance is for.

Why didn't anybody tell me Parks and Recreation is delightful? I came across it in an era of The Office and Always Sunny (is this still running??) so I thought it was another cynical or flat sitcom. I have been proven very wrong.

Abrian Curington @abrian.bsky.social · 10/08/2026

We land on a solid B. The story is preeeetty thin, but it had a lot of nice elements.

000

Abrian Curington @abrian.bsky.social · 10/08/2026

And booooy do they know magical girls!! Honestly, the best parts of this are when they stop pretending it has anything to do with Princess Knight 😂

110

Abrian Curington @abrian.bsky.social · 10/08/2026

So far the art is great, music is solid. They try to allude to like... A former life (Tezuka's heroine) but it's soooo loose. And it's breaking the story, more than tying it together. There's also this theater artifice that I love, but they're not committing to it. The backgrounds are A+ though.

110

Abrian Curington @abrian.bsky.social · 10/08/2026

So according to the trailers, Ribbon Princess was supposed to be inspired by Princess Knight, but the trailers made it pretty clear that all they took was the names and it literally has nothing to do with Princess Knight. And now we watch.
