![We are horrified by Senator Heinrich’s vote to confirm Markwayne Mullin, Trump's nominee for DHS Secretary [1]. Mullin has advocated for "show me your papers" policies, supports ending birthright citizenship, and co-sponsored the Laken Riley Act to allow indefinite detention of immigrants [2]. With this vote, Heinrich subverted the will of New Mexicans who elected him and facilitated further cruelty toward our neighbors. He isn’t up for reelection until 2030, but we will not forget. We will use the next four years effectively to build our movement of ordinary people who expect better than this, and we will be ready.
