Rio Puerco Near Bernardo affecting Socorro County.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Rio Puerco near Bernardo.

* WHEN...Until late tonight.

* IMPACTS...At 19.5 feet, At the initial flood stage of 19.5 feet,
the water level in the Lower Rio Puerco will begin to threaten
several homes and structures in the village of San Francisco
between Interstate 25 and the Rio Grande. Further rises in water
levels would begin to flood the village of San Francisco. The last
time the water level reached 19.5 feet in the Rio Puerco near
Bernardo was August 10 2006.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 10:00 AM MDT Saturday the stage was 19.8 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 18.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 19.8 feet
this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage just after
midnight tonight.

Slopes Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Espanola Valley, Far Northwest

Southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Tusas Mountains Including
Chama and Upper Rio Grande Valley. In northeast New Mexico, Far

* WHEN...Until midnight MDT tonight.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be
flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- A near-record to record surge of moisture combined with a storm
system moving across northern New Mexico will continue to bring
numerous showers and isolated thunderstorms with moderate to
heavy rainfall. Combined with already rain-soaked soil, there is
a moderate to high risk of flooding.
- Low-lying, poorly drained, and/or urban areas will be most
susceptible to flooding. Rivers, arroyos and streams will see
rises with fast flows. Minor flooding is possible along rivers.
Recent burn scars may see flash flooding, including the Frijoles
burn scar.
