for us it was: President, Vice President, Beer Bitch, and Asshole. President got 2 best cards and got to make a rule if he won 3 hands in a row. Beer Bitch was responsible for getting refills from the keg/kitchen. We often played with up to 6 people.

Both hockey and basketball have figured out: 1. Show 0.9 -> 0.1 for the last second before truly hitting 0:00 2. Use a horn/buzzer tied to the clock when it truly ends 3. Hook all of that together with the broadcast system so fans know exactly WTF is happening

And to be VERY clear, I don't think it's GOOD they way football broadcast and enforce it, because it really fucks over a team when it happens. I don't watch the NBA, but I had someone else tell me the NBA does the same clock thing as the NHL for the last 10 seconds (showing the decimal)

Same, dude. I've only ever seen it once before in CFB, and that was also Michigan (at the Big House) ~2005. I've seen it in NFL games, but almost always surrounding Delay of Game penalties. It's a simple thing to fix, just like the NHL did, but it happens so rarely, they probably never bothered.

When it hits 14:59.01, then 14:59.00, the first full second is now gone, then it goes 14:58.99 but now shows 14:58, even though only 1 second has expired. The provided link above demonstrates that this is how countdown clocks work. It's why Delay of Games aren't blown right at 0 on the play clock

It doesn't. It starts at 15:00.00. When you hit start, it starts counting down. It goes to 14:59.99, then 14:59.98 (if counting by 1 hundredths). It can't SHOW that because there aren't enough digits, so it truncates to 14:59. It ticks BEFORE the second has expired, not after. ...... continued

I'm not. The NHL ran into this problem years ago specifically with this issue and they had to change how it was portrayed on TV because of this very same fan backlash. Here's a screen cap of how the clock looks at the end, notice it is now 0.0 instead of 0:00 so they can show that hidden second.

So, if the clock didn't show seconds at all, when the 4th quarter hit 0 minutes, it would be over? That last 59 seconds just wouldn't matter? Of course not. This is the same. When the clock hits 0:00, there's still 9 tenths of second left (99 hundredths). You dont have to like it, but it is factual

Look, I hate the Wolverines as much as the next guy and wish nothing but losses on them for eternity, but it is factually true. The game clock doesn't show the tenths of seconds. It's the same reason the refs give an extra second once the play-clock hits zero before calling a Delay of Game.
